WTF man. My cousin and I went to the nissan dealership to look at the new Pathfinder Aramdas when we saw on the show room floor a 2004 Pathfinder. It's now called LE Platinum Edition and has all the standard features of the QX4. I mean aluminum door sills, the same exact wood grain (and they put the wood in all the same places as the QX4), same switch locations, Electrolumiscent gauges, heated front and rear seats, and I think a better steering wheel (minus the fake wood grain) the QX4 has. That is some crap. Nissan should have just thrown on the HID's and said this is the Qx4 but a little cheaper. The pathfinder even has preforated leather (if that's how you spell it) with the little holes in the seat so the leather wont wrinkle as much and the seats feel more comfy. I FEEL ROBBED! What's the point of nissan getting rid of the Qx4 and making the pathfinder be a Qx4 almost completely now. My cousin used to make so many cracks on how I should have just bought a pathfinder before I bought my Qx4 but this really bugs me. The 2004 Pathfinder screams qx4 all the way now. This is worst than the LX470 and landcruiser differences. Why not keep the pathfinder like toyota has done with the RX300 and highlander ????  Anyway, rant mode off! :rolleyes :(

It buggs me that they kept the Pathfinder but got rid of the QX4. It's such a nice car, why get rid of it?! But i definately am going to go the Nissan dealership tonight and take a look at this new '04 Pathfinder.

infiniti ,as I understand it from NNA reginal offices in pleasenton CA, wants to seperate their line so the vehicles dont have similarities. That is why the cut the I30 from their line up as well. now when I heard that the 350 and the G were in development stage. But one thing I did hear seems to be true. ALL the infiniti's are going to be rear wheel drive vehicles. which has happened. I though am a little confused on the whole thing since the G and 350z are nearly the same vehicle(the G has a much more plush interior I have found in the last one I got in) and the new full size infiniti SUV is gonna be the Armada.

In conclusion. what was said is half a$$ true.

When you think about it the Patfinder is really the model that the QX 4 came form. I think it would make more sense to cut the QX 4 than the Pathfinder because. The name has been around for a while and besides a few choice accessories and maybe some suspension tuning the QX 4 was always a Pathfinder, just one rung up on the social ladder. We all know that one was as capable as the other in terms of tackling similar terrain but now I think this gives Nissan the room to develop a vehicle to compete more with the BMW X-5 and the probably the LX-300??? I have been trying to get a look at what is in store for 2005 and it looks like the Pathfinder is going Old School in a sense, as fare as the suspension is concerend. It is rumoured to have a similar suspension to the X-TERRA. That is not so good for someone that wants to go canyon carving but if one wants to go off-road the possiblites has just seemed to become endless in terms of of lifts and tires thereby increasing on the stock ground performance. I think if Nissan goes with that platform and a V8 Toyota will have MAJOR problems, where the 4 Runner is concerned. That vehicle looks like an over sized Subaru but that is a different topic. This may be a week estimation but I would not be surprised if they put something int there a little bigger than Infinites current SUV that looks like a Murano on steroids but its all specualtion.Just my .02R3

that is only a rumor I heard about a year ago and it was aimed at the frontier/xterra. I just was doing some math with the post about the pathy being on the xterra type platform and that is what came to mind. but remember it was a rumor about the xtera and frontier getting that size engine. the source was a nissan tech school instructor.

Where can I find more info on the VQ40DE What Platforms is it in??? As for the New Pathfinder, I understand that they are going to be making it in the same plant that they make the X-Terra... Makes one wonder doesn't it. It could mean nothing at all but the real question is how much will it change. Will it become not much more than an overgrown X-Terra, or will it truly be a step up in way. Imagine more power, more ground clearnce, no struts. So much to think about. How will Nissan make this vehicle feel so stable without struts??? What will it look like??? Mind numbing. I guess it would be a cross between an X-Terra and an Armada. Its not like they could go wrong and make a H3.

That engine on the books does not exist yet. but maybe in some R&D lab down in san diego it could. Like I said it was a rumor I heard from a pretty good source. As it was told to me "the engine is suppose to be a chopped version of the VK56DE"

So we will see if it is true or they end up going with something else.

I stand corrected. but Its really starting to piss me off that I work for nissan and I have to find out about this crap on some internet forum. thats just discusting to me. Nissan has really dropped the ball on informing its dealers on whats coming. And they wonder why service techs lack the needed info to work on these things on initial release. Its because dealer employs are the last to know whats going on. sheesh!!

Looks like the R50's being sold out for a softy. I hope they don't cut the option of a 5spd. I was so lucky to get my SE with 5spd VQ35DE, and 4wd. The perforated leather was one big reason I didn't go with the LE (besides not having a 5spd option and transfer case). It has always looked cheap to me. It would be nice if they carried the roofline of the Armada like that 05 Pathfinder. When they dip that back end down before the window it totally throws off the lines and looks like the back is an afterthought.

Granted this is all opinion. As for more power, I'd love to see someone try to put the Stillen supercharger for the 350Z on their VQ35DE.

Oh well, I guess we win by getting the Z back, and loose in other places like this.

I think the new Pathy is ok, I like the ones now better. I like the new Frontier a lot though. I also like that they (Frontier and Pathfinder) have a more powerful 4.0L V6.

I don't understand the rants about the QX4 vs. Pathfinder just coming out now. This is nothing new. My '02 Pathfinder LE is identical to the QX4 of the same year - perforated leather and all. When I researched it at the time, the ONLY feature the QX4 had that you couldn't get on a Pathfinder LE was the electric tailgate window release button on the dash.

I was wondering if the QX4 has thicker glass than the Pathfinder or does that apply to all the Infinity line-up. The reason I ask is because QX56 has thicker glass than the Armada also more/better sound deadening material. If not then why is it so much more expensive than a Pathfinder LE, doesn't make sense to me.

cause the word infiniti is on it.

There are other subtle differences but certainly not big enough to justify such a big price difference.

Just like a lexus ES 300 over a Camry, the Camry could have a tail scoop too. hehe. I think they call it Marketing. I like my XE Sport Package, it is clean and has all I want. No fluff really. I have not seen any like it. This was the first batch of 96's over the water pretty sure of that. Feb 96 is the date of orig. Has to have been garage kept and woman driven, it is near mint. Ashtray never used. Orig Spare, no rust or dents. I have to go outside and look at it. For less than $6k I got a deal. Tires like new too!

yours is one of the first due to the late production of that model year. Feb was when we first seen them. I think I explained the whole lay down of why it was a late produstion in another thread.

So if the Pathfinder & QX4 are the same this year except for the falk wood trim oh, and badge. Why are people a little upset should be happy cause if they go & buy new, now it will be alot cheaper.

Yeah that is how I figured it out. We tried to look up parts for it and it does not exist. LOL. No struts listed. The 2nd batch was like in August of 96, they show parts for it so we ordered them. Was glad they fit! Overall a good truck. No 4wd so I am glad for that. Just more to maintain. This is all highway here.

Still can not get over how much the gas struts and shocks plus the poly rear end bushings helped it. It hugs now. I am really thinking now I need the front control bushings too. She still tends to wander at like 70mph+. You can't let it float really you have to drive it.
