It was brought up in a recent thread so I thought I would make a write up for the folks here who may be interested in doing this cheap cosmetic mod. If your like me you probably never use the rear wiper (and I deal with rain alot!) so why not get rid of it?

Time 10 min.

Difficulty-Very easy.

Tools-10mm wrench-phillips screw driver-A plug to cover the hole left from the wiper, you can find them at various places. I bought mine from splparts for $7 bucks shipped. Go to z32 section accessories-lamps/lighting & exterior and you will see it.http://www.splparts.com/main4/index.htm

This is going to be a little different for you obviously since mine is already removed but here is what your taking off.

step1Remove the wiper arm, the nut is under the plastic cap at the base of the arm.

step2There are three screws that hold the center plastic to the inside of the hatch that you will need to remove one center that holds a small plastic piece to the car and two outer ones. Once they are removed the center piece can come off.

3rd. unplug the wiper motor circled in green. And then the screws around the motor there are 3 if i remember correctly. Blue shows where the hole will be when the motor is removed.

4th Once the motor is out simply reverse the steps to put the plastic piece back in. It has tabs on the back side for the front and back to hold it in so make sure to get those back in place. Then you can take your plug and snap it into the hole on the top of the hatch, and your done. Stand back and be amazed at how much sexier a simple cheap mod can be.

Nice writeup. I've considered doing this, but I use my wiper... Guess I don't NEED it.

Lol it's not for everybody some love the rear wiper and others never use it, some would hate the look of the plug and others like myself not mind it compared to the wiper. I simply made this for those that are interested.

Thanks for the compliments, she isn't perfect but I try and keep her looking her best. I have several pics of the z throughout its progression on the site that you can search for but here is the last ones I posted, they are contrasted pretty high on purpose, though the resizing from photobucket killed the image quality unfortuanatly. I am waiting for the jspec front and my new wheels to come in before posting some new ones.
