my dad refuses to let me spend my own money on a true dual exhaust for my 03 coupe, he claims that it will bring up problems with inspection and will not be worth it, but will just bring a bunch of problems which i know is not true, yet hes convinced that it will. anyone got any suggestions for soemthing i could tell him to convince him otherwise?

First of all, how old are you? If its your car and your money, then do it. Problem solved.

Show him some mags that have the numbers on how much more "efficient" they make your car. That you will actually SAFE MONEY in gas and that a True Dual exhaust has LESS MOVING PARTS that it will keep your car from breaking down on some desolate highway between home and Vegas. This will save HIM money in gas and tow bills to get you back home and he won't have to beat you to death for dragging him all the way out there.

But really, there isn't much you can say to him he is trying to make you think reasonably and that by putting a lot of money in your car is going to be a waste if you plan on selling it in a few years. Tell him this is a car that you will be keeping for a LONG time.

I'd say, whatever you do, don't lie or make stuff up in an attempt to get this past him. Instead, question him on why he thinks this wil be a problem and address each of his concerns. More specifically, if he is saying it will cause problems, ask how. And what problems. If you don't know, then ask here and we'll be happy to give you a hand with the technical stuff.

WOW! 17 and a G35 coupe!! I would be so happy to just have one at that age!!

My daughter's 'friend' at school just totalled her NEW g35 coupe! Now, she's driving a range rover that her father got her and she's complaining about it.........

No, I don't have a point, just rambling....sorry...

I agree with the others, gather your facts and talk to your father calmly and respectfully.

gosh. that is sick. a new g35 coupe? i would...well. be extremely happy. yea but im so happy with my car, i got it about a month ago, what made it buyable was that it had 100,000 miles on it, but we took it to a few mechanics and they said that there wasnt anything wrong with it and it still had a ton of life in it. so we figured it we could get a loaded out 2003 g35 coupe for 16500, we shouldnt pass it up. good deal eh?

changing the cats will fail inspection because it allows more emissions to come through. If you just change to a true dual exhaust cat back system like I did..a borla for 850 bucks..then you are set and the torque and horses jump a bit to add a sick sound and much more power...tell your dad it also helps with gas a tad..maybe 1 mile a gallon better. and the dealer said my system doesn't void anything.
