How much life do they still have when this light turns on?

I tried searching but can't seem to find anything after the seperation of forums.

Should I go with stock pads or use my usual napa ceramix pads?

Thanx Fellow Q'ers

It's not a "right away/drive to the shop" kind of thing, but I wouldn't put another 1000-1200 miles on the car, unless you do lots of highway/very little stopping.

I use OEM, but others like power stops or hawk or, oh I don't remember . I'm sure they'll chime in soon.

Guado,

Take off the wheels and satisfy your curiosity. Typically you have many many more miles before you start doing the grind but I wouldn't push it too far.

Also, if you have wide enough holes in your rims (see mine below) one of those extendable shop mirrors coupled with a flashlight will allow you to view the pads without taking off the wheels. Be careful as inconsistent caliper performance (usually caused by slide pin lube issues) can cause one side to wear faster than the other...you need to check both sides.

PS: some are sensitive to being called "Q'ers"....

At 20% left, the issue becomes heat transfer to the fluid through the backing plate and caliper piston.

It is best not to run them any lower, do any high speed braking, etc.

I agree..... If you must wait (like to order the pads) please dont do anything stupid like high speed commando stops...

Hawk pads are good, so are the axxis and power stops, but for an overall package, its hard to go wrong with the OEM.

Yea I thought Q'ers was a nice touch!

I just have my other car on the lift right now and don't feel like moving it. The braking has sucked horribly lately. I guess I will do the brakes monday morning.

Thanks guys!

If your rotors are OK, you're safe for about a month. If you're rotors are bad and need to be replaced, you can wait maybe two months.

I waited about three months (with bad rotors) and had metal-on-metal screeching the day before my appointment to get stuff replaced.

I wish the sensor told you if the front or rear were bad (rear were worse for me with last set of pads replaced at the same time).

Right before I bought it the rear pads were replaced and new rotors were installed so I know 100% its the front.

I was kidding about the "Q'rs" I did "catch" the drift...hahaha

my pads look good beefy, but diag on cluster says low pads...where should I start. I saw a sensor on the right rear, but I didn't see one on either fron brake, which side is the front sensor on?

TIA

If I recall accurately, the sensor is on the passenger side (front and rear) on the brake pad that faces the inside of the brake disc. I find the sensor to be highly unreliable (warned me when pads were fine and didnt warn me when pads were down to the metal), so I cut the wire and tied it together.

Previous owner must have clipped them short when he replaced with cheap pads.
