I am leasing a 2006 G35 Coupe (Automatic) I just went through my first snow storm with it. Basically my question is do i need winter tires? or is what i have supposed to be year round? According to the paperwork i have 17 inch 6 spoke alloy V rated all season.

We had maybe a 2" storm with some icy spots. 60% of the snow is now gone and I was trying to park in a spot today with a few patches of snow and i got stuck! This is the second time i got stuck and im very disappointed. I have tried playing with VDC to no avail.

I had a 2004 Accord and a 2001 Camry before this and i was able to drive over mounds of snow with no problem. what gives? this car is supposed to be better.

What's your opinions on what i should do before our next storm?

thanks.

Firstly welcome to NICO!!

Now...ALWAYS drive in the snow or hard rain with the VDC on. Or I 150% guarantee you that you will rack your wheels! The car is rear wheel drive, light and far too "torquey" (lol is that even a word) to fart around in that weather!

Oh...and yes you need snow tires...don't wait!!

I'm surprised you even got anywhere!

I bought my '03 G35 Coupe new, and it has been a daily driver for the last 4 yrs. And I live about 30 minutes from you and have the same weather.

I have the stock allweather tires on the car, and have never put on snow tires. I drive the car in all weather - - but I think I'm realistic about it. It is after all a very torquey, very light car, with fat rear tires that sit on top of the snow.

Translation - it's not a Jeep, I only take it out in the snow if I have to. Living in Brooklyn if you parked it on 75% of all the snowy days each year, this means you'd have to park it maybe 3 days a year. Like I said, I drive mine in the snow if I have to, but given that it's not really a car that's going to be any good in the snow anyway I sure wouldn't waste my money on snowtires.

Good luck . . .Stu

i drove my g35 sedan in brooklyn and parked it everyday since the storm hit and although it was slippery i never got stuck i have 18 inch all season tires on my cari agree that you should drive with the vcd on the roads but when trying to pull out of your parking spot with all the snow it is better to turn off the vcd with it on your car wont move because the traction control will not allow wheel spin and you wont move with the vcd off rock your way out of the spot it was kinda hard getting out during the past few days because as you know nyc did a horrible job plowing all the streets and at night it was all ice but with the vcd off and rocking your way out it should work fine i also lease my car and couldnt justify spending all the money on snow tires for a few day in a year
