Windshield-small chips/scratches

Just wanted to ask if anyone else has noticed how easily and frequently the Altima windshield gets small chips that can been seen at night with an oncoming cars headlights or in bright sun.

My other cars had this issue after 5-6 years but never as much as the Altima had in 8 months! Maybe because the windshield has a strong angle and everything from the road flies up?I am not talking about large chips or breaks that can be repaired-these are small chips like the thing has been sandblasted...

Yup, I noticed it too! I've gotten a couple little chips on the windshield and it annoys the hell out of me when on coming traffic approaches at night.

Thats one of the reasons i drive in traffic like a grandpa. I try to keep a lot of distance with the person in front of me so i don't get rocks/sand blasted

I have the same thing, two good size chips. I can't imagine there's that much of a difference in the glass, I'd imagine it's the airflow over the car or the angle of the windshield. Really annoying though.

I've had to replace my windshield... caught a tiny rock right over the driver side windshield and what started out as just a chip grew into a crack that went all the way to the passenger side top edge.... it sucked... car was only like 3 months old at the time.

I have a chip on the passenger side. What's weird about it is that it's inside the car. I have no idea how it got there. I need to take a closer look, I'm hoping that a passenger just sneezed and didn't realize the spray stuck to the windshield.

i just went down and had a close look at the replacement windshield it doesnt have any chips at all....NONEand its been on there for like for 6 months now

Hey glozaeta its kinda off topic....but when u replaced the windshield, did u have to buy the windshield and the rubber molding?? if so, how long did it take to get the part?? im waiting for the molding part from japan :S because none in stock in U.S & Can

took like a week as i recall.... but i did have to get the moulding kit and all. the windshield was aftermarket but i THINK, not sure, the moulding still had to come from nissan.

So I'm going to guess it doesn't have the dot matrix around the rearview mirror area? I want to hard mount a radar detector right in that area, the dot matrix masks it perfectly. Eventually I'm going to replace the windshield because the chips drive me crazy, so just wondering if the aftermarket has the dot matrix?

that is so wierd..My dealer told me that it is in backorder so i have to wait till the parts get shipped from Japan or something...and also told me that this other dude from different dealer has been waiting since Dec 19th...so who knows when the part will actually come in..



i tried 2-3 different dealerships and got the basically same answer ahhh

well this was like 6 months ago...

and my replacement does have the dot matrix... its totaly identical to to oem windshield. just doesnt have the nissan engrave.
