I've had my G35x for about 6 weeks now(2006 and no, i havent posted pics yet). driving home form work on I-95 and !bam!! ? rock in the windshield at forehead level, right between the eyes. it put an annoying pit about the size of my little fingernail right in the line of sight. The question, anyone have any info on the windshield repair shops? do they work or do i need a new one? any idea how much a new windshield would be? any thoughts would be appreciated-

Similar thing happened to my wife's Odyssey last month. Called the insurance company (Geico - we have full glass coverage) and took their offer of repair/bonding to prevent cracking.

It came out great! I cannot see anything from where the stone hit or the repair. See if your insurance company offers anything similar.

BTW, my wife signed the invoice, the cost was $60, but that was to the ins. co., not us.

Also, the company offers a lifetime warranty on the repair, and I believe if the window cracks, etc. my policy will still cover replacement.

Good luck

I was told that there is a small square area that you actually look thru and if the damage is in that area, they won't fix it but will require you to have the windshield replaced.I have had small nicks repared and they never spread.I recently had the windshield replaced in my sedan. I called around and got Glass Doctor's to do it for $280. I had bought the car used and knew the windshield was pitted, so I paid for it out of my pocket.

As long as the crack is not along the edge or if the crack has not compromised the integrity of the glass they can fix it so good you can not see any crack. They take a syringe and inject an epoxy into the crack that when it hardens is just as strong as the glass.

If it is an option get it fixed, cheaper and less hassle.

I've had mine fixed several times and could always see the cracks....Call your local windshield fix-it guy and talk to him. Most car dealers have somebody that they use. They could give you a name.

Call your insurance company. I have Allstate with zero deductable. They replaced my winshield with a brand new one and it cost me nothing. a lot of insurance companies will replace it for the cost of your deductable. I saw the invoice on my repair and it was about $350.
