This was a fun one - It's awesome to hear the stories behind some of the cars we've checked out for years...

Thanks to Hijacker for his help with this contest as well!

p.s. What other forum gives away free trips? :)

This really is an honor! I've never won anything, even a scratch off ticket! I'm nervous as hell about flying (never been on a plane & not fond of heights) but other than that I am SO stoked! Thank you all so much!

I bought my first 240 in 2003 for $900. It was my first non-truck rear wheel drive. She was my pride & joy, my daily driver for the next 7 years. Five years later, I bought my second 240. A perfect motor-less shell I would use for a v8 project for $200.

In 2009, in a 24 hour period, I lost my girlfriend, my home, & my job. In short, I came home from work & my house was empty (turned out my girlfriend took everything). The next day, because I couldn't go into work with everything going on, I lost my job. With nowhere to go, I parked my car beside the dumpster at a marathon gas station. For the next few weeks, my 240 became my home to both me and my two german shepherd pups. It was cramped, I was miserable & depressed, but I had a roof over my head.

In 2010, after getting back on my feet, my 240 was stolen one morning from right in front of my house. The police found it 2 days later, crushed. I was heartbroken, like I had lost a member of my family. My project car became my therapist. I would spend hours in the driveway working on it. Taking my time over the next few years to get everything perfect. Some days I would just sit in it, for hours, listening to old montrose albums.

Today, 6 years after starting the project of the 2nd 240, I have only driven it twice. While she is technically done, I want her to be perfect, no matter how long it takes.

That's my story.

I see where you are coming from. Been there! I also see why your story was chosen. And congrats on winning. Hope you are doing better now. But one thing is sure, these cars for some reason hang on our souls thats for sure. Wish Nissan would keep designers onthe same track. Todays cars especially because of the Renault thing I think, don't seen to do to us what it takes any more.

When I was 18 years old I was just starting to get into cars and I met a great group of enthusiasts that I am still friends with today. One of those guys owned this car, a S14 SE with a RB25DET and R34 GTR wheels.

When I saw it I instantly feel in love with the style and look or modified but stock style. I had never known about Nissan or even cared before but I was instantly attracted to the car and join the community. Over the years I purchased over 8 different 240sx’s vehicles of both the S13 and S14 Chassis

While I loved racing, and drifting, I never forgot "That Car" and always told myself I would build one just like it some day. As time went on I lost track of my friend and his amazing car. I started to get that desire to build a no limit build up of what I have always wanted. A freshly painted beautiful performance machine. I started to look on craigslist and look what I found.

Here was the S14 that I fell in love with for sale by my old friend. He decided to move on with his family and wanted to sell it. I contacted him and the rest is history. I have since painted the car, added a full suspension system and will be installing a stereo here soon. The rest of the story is yet to come but I am so excited about what is next!

A better question would be, why you posted your intro thread and pics of your cars in a thread about the Detroit Auto Show? :)

All good though - Still glad to have you aboard! How about we move that over to 240sx Gen Chat?

p.s. The IDx has been a dead project for almost 2 years.

It's all gravy. Love your car! You should definitely make an introduction thread if you haven't done so, and one of the mods should lock this thread down. Also, the OP should be updated as I can't edit anymore. Let people know this is an old and outdated promotion.
