Also, I upgraded the laptop. I'm currently running two 256GB SSDs in Raid 0. 16GB DDR3. Bluetooth, BluRay Drive, Fingerprint reader and Verizon 5720.Looneybomber wrote:What'cha doing?
Hehe, this is my personal system...Looneybomber wrote:Chat support? And you need all that?
Are you really hosting a mobile p0rn site and using your laptop as the server, jumping from network to network as you travel around?
I'll unhide my email address for 6 hours... Grab it and shoot me an email.Looneybomber wrote:Man we really need PM's in this forum. Now I have to click to look up your email, copy/paste, blah blah...I'll do it when I get home.
Games? Show me a game that uses 4GB of RAM? 8GB would be the sweet-spot for a gaming rig, 16 is an outright waste. And why did you buy a rig with a Quadro (IE: not that great for gaming) when Dell owns Alienware and you have equal access to those?PoorManQ45 wrote:

I use it to play games honestly.
I felt like maxing this sucker out just for fun
I'm thinking an i7 965 system with 24GB DDR3, 4 256GB SSDs in raid 0, 3 295GTXs in tri-sli, and a pair of 30" monitors for a desktop...
Why? I dunno... I get stuff dirt cheap.

I'm waiting on the arrival on a i7-975. I know you can't currently tri-SLI the 295s, but this is a software limitation, not hardware. You could do an SLI with a seperate card. 4GB sticks are typically at 1066, but that is still plenty fast. Most of these memory boosts only show an improvement on benchmarks.Micron wrote:965s aren't the fastest anymore, nor are the 256GB drives... you can't Tri-SLI 295s (Even if you could, it would scale like crap since most of the time the 4th GPU in a Quad-SLI [dual-295] setup sits practically @ idle?), and with 24GB of memory you'd be running your memory pretty slow since they'd be 4GB sticks.
I could do that. I haven't read up on it, are they changing the socket when going to the i9s? That has always been one of the bad things for Intel. They don't care about upgrade paths like AMD.Micron wrote:Why not wait for the Core i9s and Nvidia's 300-series? And for what?
Eh, it's all a matter of perspective. Everyone has different hobbies. Some people buy guns, some modify cars, some modify electronics. These are all expensive hobbies. Is any one more important then the other?Micron wrote:If all you're doing is a few games, you're spending money needlessly, regardless of "how cheap you can get it." You might as well go buy a Ferrari and tow it around on a trailer, because that's what you're doing with the hardware you've mentioned.
You were saying??? Check your company's website out. Though you've said you work support, which would explain why you didn't know.PoorManQ45 wrote:Also, the M6500 is not slated to come out until mid next year.
I just sold my M6400. No warranty at all. Ended up with $2900.Micron wrote:I'm happy about it! I'm privy to the product release cycles and ongoing R&D within the business divisions.
Today I ordered:
M6500 CovetCore i7 920XMQuadro 3800M8GB 1600 DDR3 (For now)Intel 5130 Wifi/WiMaxGobi for AT&T 3GFIPS fingerprintBD-RAnd a piddly little mechanical HDD... Cuz I've ordered a pair of Intel X25-M 160GB G2s, rather than the rebadged Sammys Dell typically uses.
It doesn't have quite the capabilities of my M6400 due to having half the RAM, but once the 1600 modules are available in 4GB densities I'll upgrade accordingly and the 6400 won't hold a candle!
Ya i love my gtx260, and now whish i owuld have purchased x2 when i got(durring xmas last year at best buy was 160, last i checked was back up to 230+) The largest reason i picked it up was issues i was having playing ago of conan, ie fps in the teens with my old ati xt850pro)MinisterofDOOM wrote:Not bad. The GTX260's still quite a respectable little card. With mine I hover in the 50-70 fps range in Crysis (with an i7 920, though considering how GPU-limited the game is I doubt that makes much difference versus your Phenom).
I have an older N52 (they had problems with key action/resistance that were resolved in the te model) but I rarely use it as the lack of a row of keys above the "w" row is a real killer in most games. Plus my G15 has fantastic key action, so I really have no desire to use anything else.
How are you liking the X6?PoorManQ45 wrote:Phenom II 1055t x6 @ 2.8GHz.
