131K on 03 M45 just replaced all crankshaft & cam sensors also had to have the ECM reprogrammed which may not have been necessary but that's what the dealership came up with $336.00 to perform. Car drove fine for little over a month afterward, then started acting up and cutting off, took it back and then they wanted to charge $800.00 to replace the sensors lol. No thanks, no sucker here. Took it to my independent Jaguar techs shop he replaced all 3 in about an hr $85.00 pluts parts $250.00

those who have passed 100K miles range - how bad is your oil consumption rate?

i'm at 88.xxx miles right now and i just have to add .5qt after 2000+ miles in near 2 months of driving.

i'm considering selling the car due to this problem. anyone have any thought on this matter?

i also have an M35X and i drive about 3000+ miles a month and i have to add no oil...when i go to get my oil changed it is always either right =on the full line or just below it...i have had to add more oil in the past but i read on here that changing your PCV valve will help, i may try that if my oil consumption gets any worse!

mobil 1 10w 30 and mobile 1 filter, and i change my oil every 3500-4000 miles...on a side note i did check my oil level tonight and was suprised to see that the oil level was down by about 1/2 qt, i dont know if city driving has anything to do with it but i dont have this issue when i do mostly highway driving...i go to pick up my daughter twice a month and she lives about 4 hours (about 350miles round trip) away so that is a trip of about 700miles each weekend i have her, for a total of about 1400 miles each month plus i drive my car to and from appointments for a total of about 2500 miles per month driven...yes my appointments are about 70miles round trip and i do that every other day...i also have to run errands and do other things around town which add up, all totaled i drive about 3000-3500 miles per month...i did not however drive that many miles this month as i am out on disability, and i did not have my daughter this month... sorry for rambling... :dblthumb:

no no - we need to find or capture all relating facts. thanks for posting it.

anyone else wanna share their story?

I have mixed driving and i would say 51% on the highway and 49% around town. of course during summer it's more highway as i'm driving the family to the beach, vacation spots and such.

i just added .5qt to the car yesterday.

I think I saw a cloud of white smoke once, probaly 30K miles ago, I had gotten on it pretty hard just before shutting it off (presumably avoiding an accident or a jerk, don't remember which). It uses the same amount of oil it used when I bought it with 42,881 miles (~½ quart in 3750 miles, possibly not consuming beyond that point regardless of miles [wouldn't know since I change the oil at that mileage]). Averaging >22.2MPG for that entire 97+K miles combined. That might be slowly dropping now, though, as my commute has changed from 100 miles a day with 18 possible stops (only 4 possible stops in the main 40 miles each way) to 36 miles a day with 16 possible stops (four 8-10 mile trips).

ETA: My oil consumption and mileage probably both have to do with the fact that I take out slower than your grandma most of the time and rarely get on it at all (and I've been driving the speed limit [55 where I'm at, not 70+] for the last 30K to boot, so the MPG might be closer to 21.5 if I had stuck with 8 over). Regarding that driving style, the 140K miles probably goes to show that rarely getting on the engine doesn't hurt it in spite of people saying "these engines were meant to be driven and if you baby them they'll break". :P

LOL - nice feedback :)

yah i do think if you slammed these engines, it'll drink more oil and start to crap out sooner. that's unfortunate because even though i don't drive my car hard, i do like to drive it spirited every now and then. even worst is my TT that has over 120K + miles and still haven't consume a drop of oil. That car i drive even harder cuz it's so easy to get to high speed.

OH well - live and learn... i'll be keeping my car so i will have to readjust my driving style with this one.

I'm closing in on 170K, and have noticed just a slight uptick in oil consumption, maybe about 1 qt/3000 miles. I've bumped out my oil changes to around 7K now after 6-7 years of ~4500 miles. Always used synthetic blend. My annual miles driven have dropped dramatically since taking a new job with less traveling.

After reading the other stories, I never worried too much about my oil usage, just fed the habit.

96K on my 06 M35 sport, only two issues cd player stop ejecting($180), and there is a strange shape growing on the gear display. I think the display is burning out, started out as two or three odd lines now it the size of a dime. Any body have this issue?
