i'm wantin infinity kappa's for my stereo. hopefully for christmas i'll get a new deck and the speakers also. i want 6 1/2", which i'm pretty sure is the OEM size. i've heard 6 3/4 was the stock size, but i'm not sure. but could you just tell me what size they really are, if your speakers sound good (if you have kappas or w/e), and if they are 3-ways. i haven't really done any research on these speakers. i just figured someone on here had them, and i would find out from them. thanks

kappas are a good brand. I believe the s14 speaker size is 6.25 or 6 3/4. 3 ways are usually pretty bad.

I have a candian spec car and they are 6 1/2 all the way around. I have no built in amp but I think the us spec. does, which will be a problem to get around if you don't know what your doing. Also you should have tweeters in the front. I have 2 kappa perfect 12.1's in the trunk. They are excelent. As for internal speakers I haven't heard any yet, but everthing I read is good about them...

i have them in my saturn. I love them! the best speakers ever. I have 6 1/2 ' s up front because the 6 3/4 were to deep. And i have 6 3/4's in the back. I got them off Ebay for about $90 a pair. I also have a Rockford Fosgate Headunit ( with mp3 compatibility)i say go for the kappa's!

I have Kappa's 2-ways all around in my taurus. They sound extremely good. 6 1/2"s in the front and 6x9"s in the back. People think I have a sub because the 6x9"s play so low. Also, I like the 2-ways better than the 3-ways because the 2-ways have an aimable tweeter.

I had the Infinity Kappas component system in my car but traded my brother for some Kickers. Both sounded very clear and clean but IMO, the Kickers sounds a little better in my car then the Kappas. It was powered by a Kenwood amp and headunit. The size in the S14 are 6 1/2 all the way around.

mb quarts sound incredible, but for the price they're not that much better then the Kappa's. Unless you're going for SQ competitions or just want the clearest sound you can possibly get, go for the Kappa's. You'll be satisfied with them :) and I've always had better luck with 2-way systems then 3-way systems. IMO they just sound better.

MB Quart does make great speakers. Their higher-end line is pretty expensive though. I have the MB Quart QSD 216 component set. 6.5" in the doors of my s13 hatch with the tweeters on the door panel. I am not running an external amp to them, and they sound amazing.

Infinity is also a great company. I have not used their speakers before, but I do have 1 Infinity Perfect 12" subwoofer. It is an awesome sub.

yeah all my speakers are kappa, they sound really good. They are good for their price. they did go along really well with my 2 12"kicker comp VRs, but that was before my amp to my subs was stolen.

thanks for the reviews/specs guys. i appreciate it. i was leaning towards 2-way speakers anyway, just because ya'll aint the only ones i've herad bad things from about 3-way speakers. looks like i will probably go with the kappa's. thanks guys! the deck i'm getting (sony) has 50 x 4 power or w/e, so hopefully this should be plenty for them. i think right now i'm just going to get new ones in the back, because they are busted. the part of the factory amp that powers the front 4 speakers is dead, so i think new speakers in the back, and being able to head the 4 in front, should make the system sound pretty good, for not being anything huge. i hope the door panel speakers and everything up there is OK, because i have never heard them in my car. i've heard them in other s14's, and they sound pretty good. so i'll just have my "little" system for a while i guess. then i'll get new door panel speakers, and some subs :evilhaha

Eventually you'll wanna amp your mids/highs too. Trust me, amping your component speakers makes a bigger difference then you would think. Before my JVC head unit got roasted because of my battery arcing in my old car I had it pushing 2 polk audio 4x6's and 2 aura 5 1/4's. Since I didn't feel like replacing my very expensive head unit I just bought an amp and amped everything. The power is incredible and there is almost no distortion. I can turn my stereo almost all the way up without hearing any distortion. Just an idea though, they'll sound great just coming off the head unit too

Ben, did we ever tell you about on the last trip Robbie and I made up there and we got stuck in traffic how he let his car roll into mine and he could feel the vibration from my subs in his car? lol we probably did it just popped into my mind the looks on peoples faces as then went by us was hilarious

damn what a long post about nothing :D

ben, you may wanna avoid using a sony head unit. the 50x4 power is the watts in peak, almost guarenteed, in reality its more like 22x4. Also sony isnt quality car audio. I say you should go for Eclipse, Alpine, kenwood, or Pioneer.

dont get anything for your car made by sony unless it's a mono sub amp. If you check out all the features on their products they're mostly concerned with apearance - that's why all the new cd players are the same internals with new $200 screens on the front.

sony stereo crap sucks in general. they make good TV's, and vcr's i wouldn’t even get there DVD players, TV's got them there good name, and they use it to sell the rest of there crap

pioneer makes very good head units for the price, tell me what you want to spend and ill point you in the right direction, infinity makes good middle grade speakers at a good price, personally I would spend a little more and get something really nice, like Boston acoustic, Focal, or MB quart

sonys, pioneer sound rather flat to me ! i perfer clarion, alpine, kenwood also keep in mind that sony pioneer panasonic, and such companys are producer of consumer electronics they dont specialize in one type of equipment or the other, so the quality is probably not as good as oposed to a company that soley depends on sales of audio equpiment!go clairion for a head unit they sound very rich an great with after market amps on mids

I have a 91 240 and not only are all of the speakers blown, but the tape deck is busted. I know that the stock speakers are 4x6's all around, but i'm wondering what other sizes might fit into that area with minor modification. It looks like I can fit a 5.25" in the door, but i'm not sure about that or the back either.... :-(

I do believe that MB Quarts are some of the best, like I have stated in the audiofoum, mainly the Q series though. I like the Kappas though, they sound pretty clear and nice. For head units, I like Alpine, CDA 7995 to be exact, Kenwood, Clarion, and Pioneer, and Eclipse, other than that, most are just crap to me. Sony, is good for home electronics i think, like the PS2 and tvs and such. Their audio stuff blows in my opinion, and lots of people have them.

I have a sony deck and am pretty happy with it. sounds good to me, but i am not into competion or anything like that. It was one of the higher end models from the first style of blank panel/dual display whatever its called. I like being able to have 2 different faces in one deck, but i usually have it in the fold down mode because i like using the built in controls instead of the remote. But my friends dad works for crutchfield and hooked him up with the top of the line alpine deck and that thing puts mine to shame, it sounds awesome.

I have a 98 Camry with Infinity Kappa's all around. 6.5' 2-ways in the front and 6x9' 3-ways in the rear. I have an Alpine 7894 MP3 Head Unit. Love the clear sound!

Why do people dislike 3-way?

Why choose the more expensive Alpine 7995 over mine?

I'm going to get rid of my car or in the process of doing so and want to know if I can put the 6.5's in the 93' 240SX Coupe I plan to buy with few mods if any??? And what about my very nice 6x9's, any help there???

Thxs in advanced!

I have Infiniti Reference components in the front which actually sound really good and can be had relatively inexpensive. You'll want to amp them though. I also run it through a Panasonic deck which I love and am very impressed with. The sound is great and the specs are quite good for it's price range. Oh, and it looks bad ***.

Few words of advice . . .

Stay away from Sony decks; they used to make good stuff in the early and mid 90's, particularly their Mobile ES line. But with the advent of a lot of their "Xplod" stuff, it really started to suck. This year's models don't look as bad as the past few years, but for the money, I'd get an Alpine, Pioneer, or if you're feeling particularly rich, an Eclipse or Nakamichi head unit. You can't go wrong there.

With regard to speakers, I'm not a fan of 3-ways. A good 2-way will beat most 3-ways, especially considering the "supertweeters" most have produce sound that most head units aren't capable of reproducing, and even if they were, the sounds would be out of the range of the majority of people's hearing capabilities. I'm not sure what the Kappas would run you, but I would get a set of components before them if the price is right . . . it's the next step I'm taking.

Oh, and if you need more information, Car Audio Forum is a great place to go . . . http://www.caraudioforum.com/

I had a pair of Infinity Kappa 63.5i 3 way in my accord. They put out excellent sound. The kappa's come with crossovers too. However, the bass output is kinda low. They put out a nice clean hit, but it's not a very hard one. PEACE. Tek.
