That awkward moment when one goes to service/install pads and rotors, and the damned caliper bolts are way overtorqued :argh :argh :argh :argh

Literally worked with a buddy and tried damn near everything. Even his air tools couldn't get the bolts loose. Hopefully I can get my dealer to install them without too much of a hit in labor charges. ugh.

I have my brakemotive rotors, pads installed at the dealer and near as I can figure, it's a $200 charge for all 4 wheels and that includes a test drive and any needed adjustment. Might seem steep, but if I'm honest, I wouldn't touch it for less than $50 per wheel either, so it's worth it.

jtversky....You talking the little ones for the slides, or the big ones for the pad holder? When air fails, a breaker bar won't....

This. I have a bar that is like 5ft long (it's actually just a steel pipe we slide over a long'ish wrench. I always have an evil laugh when I use it..."Oh, you wanna mess with me car? That's how you're gonna play it? Okay. Hold my Dasani!"

We tried all 4 and couldn't get any to give. Both the slides and the pad holders

Yeah I just had new Powerstop Z23 Evolution rotors and pads installed this past weekend for $232 out the door with test drive to make sure all was right. Then took it right back for them to bed the brakes in some more because it was making that grunting sound every time I hit the brakes. Stops well and looks really good.

I used Centric premium blanks with Akebono pads. Full system fluid flush when installed. They work great!

I need brakes BAD in the rear (passenger side). Probably just need pads but the noises I'm hearing all of a sudden are enough to make me swap the whole shebang.

I've gotten 32 and 25kmi out of my last two brakemotive kits, respectively. Buying a house in the next few weeks so I may need to go the 'bang for buck' route with Brakemotive again but I think the time after that I'll get something better. That seems abnormally short...

Think I'm gonna try these this time around to hold me over until I can drop $500 on a brake job (I do the work myself): https://www.ebay.com/itm/Front-and-Rear ... Desc=0%7C0

I reckon I get about 30k miles on my pads - mainly, it's the front pads that get low as expected. It's a heavy car to stop and we have lots of gridlock in and around Miami.
When the fronts get low, I just buy a new 4-wheel kit and have the dealer install all 4 cuz it's one of the few times you get a bargain that really IS worth it.

Same here. When I need to replace one, I replace all.

Most of us go on eBay and get them from brakemotive, is your car is a non sport it'll be a little cheaper. I have the sport model and I think I paid $260 for all four corners, that's pads and rotors. I had my mechanic at Nissan install them for I think it was $80.

Good luck

I got these. Trying something other than Brakemotive which I've used for like the last 5 brake jobs.

You don't have the sport brakes I guess. They are substantially larger and cost a little more.

I say it thank God for ebay they have saved me thousands over the years.

Nope. No sport here.

Yep, agreed there. Between me knowing how to do 99% of my own work and cheap parts on eBay/Amazon...I've probably saved enough to buy a brand new M outright lol. Of course I blew that money on something else lol.

I've come a little late to the convo it seems. I am considering these- does anyone have any experience with Hart? I have seen some discussion about the Power Stop Evolution line as well. TIA

Read this before you buy drilled rotors--THE ARGUMENT AGAINST CROSS-DRILLED VENTED ROTORS

They sre "old-line" thinking--get ceramic pads and any name brand properly slotted or solid rotors you like...

Pep Boy's ProStop ceramic pads are great; clean (no/low dust) and stop well. I have used them on my 2003 Mustang Cobra and 1998 Mercedes SL500 with no regrets...
