As long as you are M35 and not M35X then any hi-flo cat option/y-pipe for a G35/350Z will bolt up to your car.iPencil wrote:My car (an 06 M35x) has this insanely annoying rattle/ping/metallic vibration that occurs around 2700 to 3000 RPM, when I'm accelerating, especially when I "punch it". I also noticed that it doesn't do it if the engine/exhaust is still cold, and that it is the worst when I'm driving hard. (Needless to say it is extremely embarrassing when driving with friends)After reading this thread. zerothread?id=220421I have concluding that it must be my Y-pipe.
So what should I replace the Y-pipe with? The one that's on the car is factory. Are there any good after market options? I did find this thread. zerothread?id=411933Does anyone know if those pipes are any good?
I'll try to take pics this evening.ken in az wrote:Just noticed you are an M35X - it's a roll of the dice if they'd work....gey up under your car and snap a few pics and post em up - see if they match the ones in that thread.
True - ebay has some "el - cheapo" versions. There are other higher quality alternatives.rgb129 wrote:Those pipes are selling for ~50 bucks...seems like a hoax. If you go to their ebay store, they sell stainless headers for $60. That is just too good to be true. I would want someone else to be the guinea pig with them first. For all you know, they used 1/1000" (exaggerating, sure, but you get the point ) steel piping. Thin piping wouldn't last and be excessively loud and hot.

Most legitimate shops carry alternatives...Berk Hi Flo cats, megan Y pipe, all different kinds out there. Search aroundiPencil wrote:What are the alternatives?
No, it's got 79000 miles on. Actually it had 64000 on when I got it a year ago, so it would have been out of warranty then already.ArbitrageMan wrote:iPencil is your car not under warranty?
Ive delt with this problem since I first got the car. Ive mentioned it to my dealer twice, but they were never able to replicate it. Im taking the car in imminently, and the rattle has gotten considerably worse, and more easily repeatable, so its going to be a showdown between me and the service manager.

Have an exhaust shop make it fit. You can get all sorts of custom work done, even 100% made to your specs. Often for the same price or cheaper than the name brand bolt on.cji4130 wrote:lol most likely i will buy this, but what will i do if it does not fit?
I believe that you are using an FX35 y-pipe on your M, however the Y-pipe on the M35 Sport/Base is completely different than the M35x. that is where I'm deterred from purchasing an fx35 y. i plan on swapping the Y, Mids, and mufflers in my driveway on ramps, hoping to get it all done in one day. im worried that once i have everything off and start to put in my new exhaust to find that my brand new y (kakumei, megan, etc..) just plain doesn't fit, bringing both Y's to an exhaust shop and having them do modifications without being near the car to check if it will even fit before i bring it home also worries me. still looking forward to hearing from you guys.zerg711 wrote:Look up Kakumei FX35 Y-Pipe. I am actually using Y-Pipe from my FX on my M.
