Where's the freaking "Check Engine Light" ?

I have a stock 1990 s13 and I took it to get smog. The guy comes and tells that I'm the first car that his has had that failed the functional test cause I didn't have a check engine light. The little instructional book that he had stated that my year 240 has a check angine light.............So can someone please answer my question..Am I suppose to have a check engine light???????????? Thank you in advance.

yes you are suppose to have a check engine light it should be on the left side of your gauges

its right below the fuel gauge, they are hard to see unless the light is on.

I got two lights with no Icon on them, the guy at the smog place said that the check engine light was on in the computer but no light was present.

Yes there is but it seems that your gauge cluster was swapped out. 240s in california came with a check engine light. The symbol says 'check' with a pic of an engine behind.

Perhaps your car wasn't originally from California in which case it may not have a check engine light.

No, the car is a california car, does anyone know somwbody that has one for sale or something. I've been doing alot searching but all I seem to find is the ones without the check engine light symbol, IM trying to transfer the title to my name but this is holding me back....it sucks.
