I need a brake fluid reservoir cap for my 80 720. Mine has two metal caps on the master cylinder with rubber plugs underneath. The front one the plug is split and the cap won't stay on. It currently has a zip-tie holding it on done by a previous owner. Last owner said he never could find one, and also left the fluid alone the three years he had the truck. I have been to the two local Nissan dealers, and all the parts stores in the area.

All I can think of is a junk yard if no one locally has it. The dealerships weren't able to source it from anywhere else? I know my dealer never has anything for my truck, but they can usually source it from somewhere.

I would try a local Pull-A-Part if you have one. I have scored many parts there. Good luck!

My local PullaPart has a recent 1976 Datsun truck. Do you think the brake reservoir is the same as a 76? If so, I'll stop in and have a look.

I hate to be stubborn, but you'll need to post a photo with views from different angles and maybe some measurments of the cap you are looking for. That way if I stumble across it at the salvage yard I will know what to buy. Otherwise I'd waste money by guessing and buying the wrong part.

Can you post some photos and give me some measurments?

Honestly, unless it's a fender, bumper or some other body part, I don't trust parts from junkyards. As a professional mechanic I have seen too much failure of junkyard parts.

I found one here: http://www.nissanpartszone.com
$10 brand new plus shipping

This site has a lot of new genuine Nissan, old stock, and reproduction parts for old Datsuns and Nissans.

Just get a new reservoir tank. It isn't all that much, plus you'll get a new one with a warranty. It's really easy to install!
