I would go 3750 at the most, but if you plan on keeping your vehicle for a long time I would go even less. Manufacturers usually don't recommend shorter initial oil drains, but I think this has more to do with owner convienience than what is best for the engine. There will be a lot of break in wear particles suspended in your oil, a lot of which are too small for the oil filter to remove. Better to flush these out sooner rather than later, in my opinion. Wear metals can promote degradation of the oil and be abrasive to engine components and seals. I certainly would not go 7000.

Enjoy your new Rogue!

I am surprised the dealer told you 3,750. The first oil change is very important. The engine is breaking in and this is where there is the most wear in the components inside the engine. I usually change my oil right after the break in period which according to Nissan is 1,250 miles. And please always make sure you change the oil filter each time you change the oil. I am surprised when I talk to people who don't change the oil filter. This is like not removing the lint from your dryer each time you use it. And what does it cost $4-$6. I just purchased my Rogue in Dec and have about 300 miles on it. I Plan on changing the oil as soon as it reaches the 1,250 miles. Just for fun, put a piece of cheese cloth over your oil drain pan and look at it after the oil drains through it. You will see small pieces if metal from cylinder walls, piston rings, bearings wearing in. Think about this metal being sloshed around and wearing your engine even more. You want to set this out of your oil as fast as possible......Just my opinion.

i bought my Rogue Dec 15, '07. the maintenance sticker they put in is Feb '08 or 6000 KM or 3750 Miles, OR.. whichever comes first.

i only have 700KM or 438Miles as of Jan 11, i'm estimating i'll reach 1200 - 1500KM (938Miles) by close to the end of Feb. i'm going to bring it in near the end of Feb. regardless of what mileage i have.

i do mostly city driving, about 70% of the time, and i think i need to consider that because it takes a lot of stress on the engine with all that stop and go.

my 2 cents.

I am struggling with that as well, the dealer put a sticker on the window indicating that the oil needs to be changed at 6000 km.I now have 1600 km on the car and I think that I will change the oil soon, and again at 6000 km.

I changed my oil at 1400 miles. The car was broken in gently till 1200 miles and then I made a high speed run to Iowa for Christmas (average 72 mph one way). Immediately changed the oil and used a new Nissan filter. Very cheap insurance in case there are metal bits in the oil.

Got my Rogue on Dec 13 and I have 1700km on it right now. I'm due for an oil change in March which is when I will most likely get it.

I always do my first oil changes around 2k miles. I notice that in most cars by then it's already half a quart low (sometimes more).

I got my first oil change @ 2700 miles..2nd change @ 5700 miles..3rd chage @ 8700...

I bought it on Sept 28th....and yes..I have over 8700+ miles on the car already.....Thats what happens when you take a 9 State Vacation to see the sights with your family.

I havent really decided yet which was the funnest...seeing al the different things around the country....or driving the Rogue the whole time !!

But..change your oil whenever you want to...It's better to do it sooner than later.

Well, I bought mine on Dec. 12th and I just hit 3200 miles. I plan on bringing mine in within the next week. Dealer perk... they threw in free oil changes for life! What a deal!
