Had to sneak your alti in one of the pics huh

I love VW, my mom used to have a Jetta and I loved it. A friend of mine also had one, threw in some bolt ons. It was a pretty fun ride. I like it a lot

I seriously thought you were announcing your intention to invade Poland.

Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not trying to start a fight but: a) Why are you posting pics of your stock Jetta on the Altima forum, especially since there a like several million of these, I see like 10 per day?

b) and....I have always been puzzled by people's love and fascination with the Jetta. I'm not critisizing it, I just don't understand it. I've driven a several from a few different years and I always came to the same conclusion "this car is nice, but overpriced and doesn't offer much above what some of the competitors offer for a more reasonable price". They didn't drive much different than the twentty other cars I drove and the styling put me to sleep. Granted I'm not a diesel fan, mostly because in Canada we don't have many around and they can be a pain in the winter at times. And I concede that these things run forever which is a big positive, but beyond that what do you love so much? In terms of price, the used ones are by far the worst, people seem to think they've got a performance vehicle or a larger more valuable SUV for example, rather than just a little 1.8 L 4-banger car with barely average styling (you can't think the styling is great, can you? I'll give it "average", but nothing more).

So anyway, I'm not on the attack here, you brought up the subject and it's soemthing I've been interested in for quite some time since I've bought 5 vehicles over the past decade and the Jetta has popped up a few times but never came close to buying one. BTW, I own an 08 Nissan Rogue and couldn't be happier with it, and if I didn't have a kid and large dog the Altima would be high up on my list of potential cars.

no i didnt take it the wrong way at all...

A) im posting pics because honestly i can... its in the general forum not the coupe one and i just wanted to share... there are alot of people on this forum that dont even own nissans and just like to hang out...

B) this is my first time owning a turbo car so its different for me.... im not facinated with it... i paid 5k for a car thats blue book is 8.5k so i got a good deal... my wife likes it and she chose it... compared to a 1995 bmw 318i with 19456131643kms for the same price what would you choose ? my wife refuses to drive a manual so that cuts like 3/4 of the cars in the country out of her list... its not a diesel... i like it becuase it makes her happy.

i took no offense to your statement at all....

Nice choice Mike, it's a great car. BUT.....you HAVE to chip it. 03 should accept the port reflash and no need to desolder the ecm. Trust me it'll be the best $400 you ever spend.

I personally like UPsolute and Revo the best but there are tons of them out there. The car will respond fine to either, no other mods necc. If the DV blows then just grap a GLI one from the dealer for $45 and your set.

just out of curiosity how many miles does this car have? I'm asking because I used to own a 98 vw passat 1.8T and it was great UNTIL it hit 100,000 miles and after that it was in the shop at least once a week until i got fed up with it and sold it. I used to have a check engine light even when nothing was wrong. I also have a few friends that own VW , jettas, passats, GTI and R32 and same with them.

that sounds about perfect^^^^^

Maybe toss in a stronger DV down the road and call it a day. Everything else for that car makes very very little hp after you have chip, intake and DV.

Mike, if nothing else, you've GOT to chip that sucker! The 1.8T is a beast.
