I have bent rims on my 1983 720 4x4. I'd like some after market rims but I'm having trouble figuring out what off set and size of rims will work. I bought a set of Frontier rims but they did not fit. Let me know if you have any info.

What's wrong with the Frontier rims? Only 2004 and older will fit a 720. The pattern changed in 2005.

The Frontier rims must be from a newer model because the bolt pattern and the center hole are too small. I looked at the wheel pro site and they list a couple of options but most of the rims are really wide and I would have liked to stay with a narrower wheel.

My pickup has the z2.4 and seems to have very little power. Does anyone know if this engine has enough power to turn 31in tires? I know that the gear ratio is 4.375:1. Any insight would be appreciated.

It has enough power. It just won't be the best drive ever... super slow on hill etc. As far as the wheel stuff... the bolt pattern is 6x5.5" or 137.9 or whatever the metric equivalent is. The center bore is quite large... but just about any American Racing or other equivalent wheel will have a large enough bore.

Do the 6 bolt chevy rims measure 5.5. I've run into a couple of American Racing rim sets that say they fit a 6 bolt chevy. Most of them were very reasonable too.

4x4 can handle 31's. It will be passed by Corollas on the street all day long but it'll go where most cars would never return from alive.

I found rims and tires for $100. Only one problem though, I don't have enough clearance for steering. Can I tighten up my torsion bars for more clearance or will that not work. I know it would need an alignment but am wondering if it will cause any other problems. Has anyone else tried this?

What exactly is happening? Rubbing the fender wells when cornering? If so, the main thing is tire height... you just need a lower profile tire. You can raise the front if you want, but you will probably see minimal clearance gain, and just a whole lot of bad alignment issues. My vote would be on smaller tires.

I think that you are right. I don't think that 33's where designed to fit this truck. The tires hit the fenders so I manipulated the fenders. Then the tires hit the corners of the floor boards. I'll have to try to decide what to do with it.

On a side note, I am not to familiar with using a forum and would like to know how to post a picture of my truck.

Here is an awesome thread on how to post pics.

As far as running bigger tires than were intended... get in there and beat those floor boards with a hammer! If it still doesn't work, more modifications may be needed, but you can make them work if you really want to.

31 10.30 will rub check out the rims on the 4x4 chevy s10 4x4 toyoter , if sticking with 31's then take hammer and beat or roll front finders up a bit and give the floor a couple of wacks to give some clearance my truck is rusted out pretty bad in that area so i just take my time on turning and bumps
