I recently bought some 18" touring wheels(5-spoke). I am having a tough time cleaning these wheels, they scuff so easily, and now i am actualy afraid to clean them. The front wheels are now brighter than the rears, don't know why. Can anyone suggest some products or tips to clean these wheels? These are gorgeous rims and i want to keep them looking good! Thanks

eagle 1 ftmfw. gets the grime even behind the spokes out, makes your wheels and rims look brand spankin new after every wash.

You should also try waxing your wheels. I wax the wheels in my cars with great results. The wax keeps the brake dust from sticking and when brake dust and dirt sticks its a breeze cleaning the wheels; usually the hose does the trick. The type of wax i use is ICE Turtle wax and it doesn't leave a white residue at all. i been waxing my wheels with this stuff for more than a year with great results and no problems what so ever.

+1, if its real tough to get off and you need to agitate it then use a wheel bristle brush.

I go with that Meguiar's all wheel cleaner and a shop rag, you just have to get it off fast, but it takes away all of the grime real quick

I use that and an all purpose cleaner if it is really nasty.

My friend had some really nasty looking stock aluminums. He got them fairly decent looking with toilet cleaner. No joke. Prolly wouldn't recommend for anything nice, though.

Okay, this thread is down my road. . .

What is the surface of the wheel? Machined, polished, powder coated. . . etc.

It sounds like it's a polished wheel. The best thing I've found for polished wheels is "Mothers" brand wheel polish. You can buy it at Wal-Mart and it is fairly cheap. Polished wheels are just hard to keep clean and looking good so you need to clean and polish them at least once per month.
