i know for most turbo applications the 3.0" exhaust would be the ideal setup, but i just got an offer on a Apexi single N1 exhaust with 3.25" piping for 450$ and its basically brand new. But i was just wondering, doesn't 3.25" sound alitle too big?

That kind of diameter is extreme overkill for a naturally aspirated motor. Hell, even a stock boosted motor that'd probably be too big. Three and one quarter inch is suited more for higher boost levels. I have 2.5" exhaust (HKS HIPER) on my N/A 240sx, and talked to many mechanics / performance tuners and they have told me that 2.5" would even be fine for a stock sr20 setup.

The bigger the piping, the louder it will be. I've heard the Blitz NUR spec, which is just over 3" and its SO LOUD and raspy, its sickening. I'd really suggest something under 3". The HKS HIPER is the best exhaust I've ever heard, period. You can ask Ben, or anyone else on the boards that has it. Its very deep, no rasp, and it isn't horribly loud, but you always know its there.

:P

And no, I don't work for HKS. I'm just a satisfied customer.

Nick.

bigger the better for any turbo application. Ideally you wouldnt even want an exhaust on a turbo setup, but its pretty gross without one.

for 2.4L NA engine I would stick with a 2.25 or a 2.5maybe.

i also have the hks hyper. I will be using it on the sr for a while at least. I just bought it and cant swing another 500 bucks for a 3inch exhuast. 2.55 inch pipping should be fine for a while. I cant wait to here the sr out of the hyper, it should be sweet.
