What's up guys!

I'm looking to get some wheels for my Z.

Any trust worthy websites that sell wheels? Are there any wheel brands that I should avoid, brands that are known for easily bending or cracking?

Also, there are many brands that make imitation wheels of more expensive brands. Are the wheels more or less the same or is the quality a lot lower in the imitation ones?

Thanks guys

As far as wheels for the Z the Tire Rack carries nothing.

Some wheels manufacturers that make wheels popular on the Z.

ADVANVOLKWORKROTA (makes copies of ADVAN/WORK/NISMO/VOLK)SSRAXISNISMOENKEI

tires.com (discount tire direct) are also a very reputable source for wheels and tires

tire rack sells everythign for youtr basic street cars and performance oriented and competition wheels and tires, so yeah if you want bling look elsewhere, tirerack sells, SSR, enki, motegi, volk, oz, gram lights etc, might not carry their full lines but they do sell many of the lighter sportier wheels

edgeracing has a rather small selection but mostly lightweight stuff, zigan, falken etc

Buy rims made in Japan, JDM. Volks, Work, PIAA. Do not buy cheap rims, or you will regret it.

One of the most important mods in your car are the rims. Do all the mods in your Z, but if you have cheap rims, your car will still look cheap.

Avoid chrome.

+1 do not get cheap rims. You drive a Z, it deserves the BEST, Volks or Works are my two options

It's funny... what you guys describe as the best.

What's the "best" about VOLK or Work? Is it about price? Becasue if it is then I can name Fikse, CCW, Kinesis, Forgeline, BBS, HRE.

Is it about quality? Becasue Enkei deserves to be in the first 3. Enkei was a major supplier of Formula 1 wheels for years. And BBS? And SSR?

Most of VOLK wheels have plain heavy gravity cast wheel centers.

What if Volks aren't in your budget? Rota's aren't better than OEM wheels even if it is just for the look? I mean who here takes their car to the track?

Get whatever wheel brand that fits your tastes, needs and budget. Don't create an atmosphere of superiority just because your a JDM brand whore. Take it to the track we'll sort things out there with a lap timer.

I was just stating wheels off the top of my head. I know there are more than just Volks and Works. All i was trying to say is you should get wheels that you like, not because it's cheap n your gonna force yourself to like it. Volks and Works are a few that are proven to be quality wheels, not saying unknown brands aren't, but they're not really proven.

Do some research on the proper widths/offsets for the Z33, and look at fully forged and true multi-piece wheels.

"Cheap" wheels work also, just figure out what's important to you (weight, strength, looks, widths, fitment, etc) and go from there.

A forged wheel does not necessarily mean it is stronger than a cast wheel. Forging allows for a lighter wheel to be produced wit hthe same stregnth as a heavier cast wheel.

Look into wheels with MAT technology such as ADVAN and Enkei. They are less expensive than forged wheels, and are sometimes lighter and just as strong.

2 and 3 piece wheels are heavier than wheels with one piece construction and have issues with rim sealing as the wheel ages. Unless you need a custom offset stay away from 2 and 3 piece wheels.

forging is by definition stronger than cast, I understand what you are trying to say but to say it retains the strenght of cast is the part I have a problem wtih, forging is stronger than cast, all things being equal, forging makes the metal more dense which in theory would make it heavier by volume, but the stronger pieces can be made smaller/thinner due to the extra strength of the forged metalhttp://www.esi-group.com/produ...6.pdf

I completely agree, but for the "average" wheel shopper, a forged wheel will be better than nearly all cast wheels they look at.

And my meaning (not clearly communicated) was that fake multi-piece wheels are something to stay away from ... obviously, I typed only about half my point before. Sorry about that.

Anything that uses M.A.T. technology by Enkei, like ADVAN is just as good or even better than forged construction. Better because some of the ADVAN wheels are lighter than Ray's forged wheels. M.A.T construction has the same structure as a forged wheel.

ADVAN wheels are extremely popular in Super GT. I use them myself and I bash them into the curbing on the race track at every apex.... 17 if your counting.

Yeah... fake mulit piece wheels are tacky.

Just to be clear, I'm not disagreeing with you. I just think there's a difference in the wheels you'd run (based on the posts I've read) and the wheels most people would look at to buy

I know your not disagreeing.... it's just conversation. Even if you were everyone is entitled to their own opinion no matter how wrong the might be.

Yeah... I know some people like their wheels to be bling bling.
