I'm planning on running a to4E just so I don't have to upgrade later.

T3/T04e 50 trim...should spool around 3000 and be good for a pretty easy 350hp or more. In retrospect though, I would have gone with the 60 trim if I had known I would be running the boost I now will be with good fuel management.

T3 60 trim compressor, .63 A/R turbine, ceramic ball bearing center section. Good for 16-18psi MAX.

T3/T4E Hybrid with a 60 trim. I run currently about 15 psi and have no idea how much hp and torque it is producing. Clark at JWT says it should be about 260-275 whp and about 312 lb./ft. of torque. All I can say is it is really fast.

T3 60-1 with a/r .70 on the compressor side and a a/r .63 is what I have planned.

T04B15 here, never see's more than 10psi around town, and whenever at the track, or messing around on the street its run out to 20psi no problem.

Changing to a t4 60-1 or t66 very soon, my T04B15 is for sale BTW.

T3 from a Saab 9000 42 trim wheel .48 a/r ratio aka the Tiny Tim turbo. Only reason to get it is if you want a small power boost to come really quickly to your car (good for auto-x)

Oops, sorry I didn't read your full post. Best street turbo on stock block would definitely be a T04E/T3 50 trim, STG 3- .63 A/R. Very efficient and flexible from low boost up to high due to it's more modern compressor wheel design. Also, you might want to look into the SC61 if you want more power in the future. This turbo has the latest GT wheels and should be very efficient especially at higher pressure ratios. I would leave the head alone unless you know what you're doing since the head already flows well. If you want to shift you power band a little higher up, go with the 91' cams or wolf cams. I've seen the T04E 50 trim dyno anywhere from 210-220 whp at only 5psi non-intercooled with really no lag at all. You really don't need to mess with the valvetrain until you're ready for some serious power and especially since there is virtually 0 aftermarket support for cams for the KA. Good luck!!

virtually zero? you mean aside for the 8 or so different cams available and the aftermarket valvesrpings with titanium retainers? or were you talking about the after market sodium filled valves?

I know all about the valvetrain offerings. I'm talking about specifically turbo ka cams. I know wolf has some and pdm but that's about it. Heard Crower should be making some but don't hold your breath on it.

Kevin,

I was actually going to come by on my way out north but I didnt have time to so I wasnt able to come by until later. Steve said you had JUST driven out. Anyways, I dynoed 331hp and tq within 250rpm of each other, and that was on pump gas at 17psi, conservative timing, and my MAP limiter kicking in. Anyways I got my slicks and weld wheels today and am going to the track at 20-25psi and 11's in sight.

When are you coming back to salem?

Rick,

I was there on Sunday all afternoon. Working on some minor brake issues. I might be back down next Sunday but the car won't be running, but I would like to see yours. By the way do you know anyone who wants a custom KADE fuel rail with 4 brand new 60lb. MSD injectors. It bolts right on.

Actually, unless I can get a new transmission by then, I wont be driving my car at all. I ended up breaking the tailshaft apart at the driveline. So, im kinda stuck for a little bit until I can either find a cheap 5spd DE transmission, or can figure how to steal one off of a parked car :)

If you dont mind the only filter for the air going into your engine being the compressor blades... then sure, run it open.
