I know I tend to ramble so I'll try to keep this short

Car: 92' Q45 with 148,000 miles.

Symptoms: Squeek in front when going over humps, sounds almost like walking on a squeeky wooden floor... Lower pitch. This one might seem weird but I don't know how else to describe it. The car sort of rotates counterclockwise on its vertical center when hitting sharp bumps. I'll be driving lets say 40 mph, hit a bump and the car twists and I'm almost facing the oncoming traffic, feels like the car becomes unattached to the road.

What is doesn't do: The ride doesn't feel spongy or bouncy. Push down on the corners when parked and it returns to center with no springyness.

Current Status: I've order shocks from GroupA, although the shocks seem to pass the parked test (I know, not a good test), I'm thinking there worn out by now. I'm also thinking of selling the car in the spring and don't want to stick more than I have to, although I don't exactly want to get just by either since the caris still in very good shape (interior is like new yet). What components do I need to order from Joe yet? I know some people are extreme in there maintance and some are in their anti-maintance. I'm looking for middle of the pack.

While your shocks liley need replaing at this point causes of squeeks ( I am investigating similiar problem) are ususally frotn swap bar bushings and worn upper links.

other bushings in the front suspension are also a possibility but the above are by far the wmost common.

How are your upper links and tension rod bearings? I guess you'll see when it is apart.

I wish I could say I was doing this myself. I ordered the shocks, I will make an appointment once I get them. I had a quote of $350 to get them intalled, if boots are required, they'll let me know as soon as its on the lift and we'll reschedule to accomodate new parts. I'm thinking upper links and tension rod bearings might be a necessity, are these parts inspectable? I guess I was thinking there's not much they can inspect without dissassembly, maybe I'm wrong, maybe I should have it inspected and order the appropriate parts.

The tension rods are inspectable, teh upper links usually look good even if they are shot.

It's the bushings on the tension rods you'll want to inspect. Look for an cracks in the rubber; if there are any, replace them. Fred's right about the upper links. You can't tell visually without removing them whether they're good, though a camber alignment reading might be a clue to their condition.
