What should I offer for this coupe?

Hi all,

A friend of the family has an '08 black/black cloth 2.5 coupe that he has to sell due to job loss. My wife loves the car and is driving me crazy insisting we should get it-lol. It has 12,000 miles is in excellent condition and has a 5 year/50,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. It has a moonroof and steering wheel controls so I guess it is like the convenience pkg of '09 with moonroof? Anyway, what would you all consider to be a good price for the car? Thanks for your advice.

Anyway, I did a LOT on research and found a couple that would fit RIGHT into the category that you are.

1st, I think you can get it for 18k easy. When I was looking, there was a private sale for EXACTLY what you describe (Black w/ moonroof), maybe 14k miles...and were looking for 18k and having a hard time getting it. In hind site...this was the first car I have ever bought and I should have bought that but did not know of all the messed up dealer fees! I would have saved maybe $2k.

I ended with a Blue coupe, 14k miles...settled for $18.7k + some fees

Basically...depends on how good of a friend it is...and how generous you want to be...the warranty is about a 700-800$ value...but your drive train is 60,000 anyway I believe. (We opted for a 100k warranty so it doesn't matter to me anymore...)

I would say $18k would be a good deal both ways... anywhere between $17k and mid $18ks would be acceptable...

On Craig's List? Zero...it isn't the type of car many know about...

(BTW, I was doing my searching/research in March)

I used Cars.com and Autotrader.com and a few others, but none were anymore helpful then the first two. I researched for maybe 3 weeks after I decided on the Coupe and it was their the whole time...They offered to charge me $1 for the car and $18k to drive it to my door (Meaning no taxes) which would save you $1k when you go to register. No idea WHEN or HOW MUCH it actually sold for however...

Throw out $17.5 as long as it comes with a full tank of gas and an oil change and be happy with your sweet new ride!!!

If he says he can't do under $18k, say "OK, 18 if you pay to tint it" and go with that

Really...you won't find ANYTHING for much under $18...so if you WANT it...that is a good deal and won't find much better. If you would just LIKE to have it...then...sit on it and see how much he really wants to get rid of it.

I wouldn't say that is to much, that is a lot of miles but that is a lot of options. Your Car's new MSRP would have been $27-28k... I think with cars unless you spend 50% of the listed cost, you will always feel like you could have gotten it for a LITTLE cheaper...
