A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

I know that right now, i don't have a lot of options... but i am a serious engine freak. very knowledgable on older chevy's but very new to the whole nissan thing in general. however, i do want to become well versed so to speak. so my question to 07 2.0(s)(sl) owners, what should i know about my engine? i mean i know the basics, like hp and torque, but when looking for aftermarket parts like headers, exhaust, intake, any kind of performance parts... is there something special.. like for instance one example would be... b16 motor? or whats the name for it... stuff like that...thanks for the help!

You have an MR20DE (2.0 liter, dual cam, fuel injected).

Theres not a lot of aftermarket stuff available for the MR20DE yet. Besides BRM who carries an exhaust for it.

I think what you should know is that you would have gotten more performance for your buck if you had gotten SE R or Spec-V vs trying to do stuff to the 2.0. Not to mention better brakes...

i'm sure your comment stems from the fact that you are very happy with your new car, however try to keep in mind that not everyone wants to pay the extra on insurance or more for the car itself, or maybe didn't want to wait for the se-r's and spec v's to come out. likewise, i could say the same thing to you that you should have gone with a spec v and not just an se-r, but i'm sure there's a reason you chose the automatic with less hp

Automatic was because of needs for other people to be able to use it as well. And would have gotten the Spec if that wasn't the case.

You can't get better bang for the buck really unless you go boosted but then you face accelerated failures.

Also insurance isn't that bad if you have a couple years clean record. My rates on the SE R is perfectly reasonable, same as a regular Civic. Remember this point: If you mod your car that's ground for them to not pay your claim if you get into an accident. Unless you report it to them after you mod the car. Then again they might jack up your rates because then they might view you as a possible street racer.

So really why not get the factory tune with better brakes in the first place? I believe the difference was like 2-3k when I got the car and that was in Canada. If you end up spending close to that amount tuning then I don't see the point. Btw the engine on the 2.0 is a lot rougher then the 2.5 liter. I drove the 2.0 as the loaner when I had to take in in for the various issues.

the spec-v wasn't out yet when i purchased my 2.0s... but when i saw it, i didn't like the rims or the spoiler.. i like mine better.. and i havent seen one without it.. it looks as ugly as those with no spoiler... let's face it, the spoiler makes or breaks the car.... does anyone agree? look at the basic 2.0.. same body style, just no spoiler makes me turn my head....

To give you an idea of what I was thinking, I was one of those people that said "top of the line is the only way"

My car: 2.0S, 6 speed, EVERY OPTION POSSIBLE ON THE MANUAL, NOW 17" rims, good gas mileage, etc etc, $337/month for 60 months, $17,800 after my discount and incentives.

The SE-R Spec V we had in stock: base model, no sunroof (whatever, don't need one) no LSD, no RF system, front bumper had already been drilled into, silver, $375/month, somewhere around $19,500 after discounts.

I COULD have bought it, but I didn't because I don't NEED the 200HP, I don't do major mods to a car anyway, I am only doing them to make it look and sound different (with SOME performance gains) and the insurance was cheaper than my bare-bones Lancer.

Do I wish I had a Spec V? Sure. Do I regret buying my car? Hell no.
