Hmm... Threads with open-minded, civil discussions about the future of our country and the fact that we might be going to war get locked down... but garbage like this stays open. A litte bit of a double standard I think.:rolleyes

Lock it up dude!

That's crazy. A bit far fetched. Do you have proof his IQ is 90?? I'd really like to see that. If your IQ was 90 could you pass any classes at Yale? Cs are passing... Don't say anything unless you have proof to back it up. Damn liberals...

An IQ of 90 eh? Any substantiation for that? I'm not saying that he's a genius but a moron could *not* get into office. Sure, he isn't always the best orator but how often have you made an important address to an entire country of naysayers? Or even the world? I doubt it's stress-free. I also doubt that everyone that preaches Dubya's never-ending stupidity are absolute mental prodigies in every single aspect so think pre-post next time, yeah?

Don't wanna get into a political argument seeing as I rarely come here but I just can't stand people spewing unfounded ignorance..... :(

If you're interested in shreds of evidence, check out...

http://www.hereinreality.com/911/

Download the pamphlet and read it. It should take you maybe five minutes to read, and about 15 seconds or so to download on a high speed line.

In response to this thread being a waste of bandwidth, I'd say that 99% of the crap on TV is a waste of time, money and energy. That doesn't stop hundreds of millions of people from turning on the idiot box every night.

If you disagree with the information is being offered to you, please feel free to say so. I'm disappointed that folks are asking for this thread to be closed though. If this turns into a flame war, with people attacking each other personally... then sure, close it. Until then, leave it open for people who are comfortable with realizing that there are things going on, behind the scenes, that they're never going find out about unless they look for them.

Personally, I think the thread about jerking off causing you to lose weight was the biggest waste of space I've seen on this board. Yet I didn't ask a moderator to close it, even though anyone who had taken two minutes to seriously think about it would have realized that any sperm you spit out, is going to be replaced by the body.

For what it's worth, I think the democrats are a buncha tools too. So are the green party guys, and the libertarians.

In the words of one of our all time favorite members and a former moderator:

"SEE ALSO: pot, kettle, black"

Resorting to charactr attacks.... hmmmm... did you read that link before you posted it?

This thread has some value.... sure.... but I'm just sore because threads that have some ACTUAL intellectual content and good-natured debate get closed... but steamy piles of sensationalized dung like this pathetic attempt to dicredit an individual are left open to fester and rot... calling into question the value of our site.

I'm sorry to see that most people who read the thread, are focusing on the character attack part of it. In part, that is my fault for posting a link to that particular page... instead of one of the more interesting ones on the site like:

http://www.hereinreality.com/911

I think that some of the events leading up to and surrounding 9/11 are pretty interesting. Also, the ties that the Bush family (and other prominent business and political leaders) have to each other, and their ability to influence the policy of the country is interesting.

The character attack stuff is tabloid level sensationalism. But don't you think it's interesting that around the time the public could have been tearing Bush apart for ditching the draft.. a story "leaked" about some lame drunk driving offense, which gave the public something else, less "damaging" to focus on?

I find your choice of media more interesting. These 'conspiracy theory' type of sites feed on the ignorance of those that are led by their emotions. Instead of logical though processes, they rely on the fact that your emotions will bring you to the half-a$$ed conclusions that they have conveniently brought you to. Puppet on a string.

By your logic... we were led away from a juicy draft dodging story.. by a lackluster drunk driving story. Knowing the audience of readers that you represent... I guess I can't doubt the concrete logic behind that clever bait and switch routine.

Phax is wrong to fire back at the people who asked to have this thread closed. You use an open format such as this to spread useless propaganda, and with your very next breath, you're crying that it just aint right for people to call for this thread to be closed. Sounds a bit like "Do as I say, not as I do"

I'll address this post first, because it most contradicts how I believe myself to be acting. When I read that I've "fired back at people", I get the sense that I've lit people up, or maybe taken myself out of an objective frame of mind. Yet looking back over what I've written, especially in response to other people's posts... the closest I've found to inflamitory remarks are what could be construed from thoughts that this thread is at least as valuable as the jerking off thread.

With regards to the crying and useless propaganda, one of the things I like about being an American is the limited amounts of free speech that we're allowed. Now, given on a forum such as this.. our speech is moderated and sometimes censored for the good of the community. I'm glad to see that there have been some strong responses generated to this, yet it makes me a bit sad that the reactions to those responses are often times bordering on outright hostile.

There's have been some nice, broad and sweeping generalizations made about the content of the web page being a crock, and what not. That's nice, thanks for sharing... is there any particular point in general that you'd like to point out as being a crock? Please, enlighten me... because I do hate to swallow an arguement whole, without giving it time to digest or consider alternative viewpoints.. even when it is my own.

Lets see what else... someone mentioned the content was idiotic, and that anyone who believes it is small minded and a puppet... relying more on emotional knee jerk responses than "logic" <--- paraphrased. It's interesting to note that when people's beliefs are challenged, often time responses are generated in their own minds... to instantly discredit and talk down anyone who might positively consider the opposite side. I especially like in this case, the idiot frame which was constructed around the topic. As I am unable to get directly into the mind of the man who made the asserations, I have to guess that it was done as an effort to dissuade those of weak character from seriously considering the material, for fear of being considered an "idiot", or a "puppet".

I think it's funny that this thread about politics, has devolved in a similar way as most public, political discussions. The issues get ignored, and reframed.

Since there seems to be little educated discussion taking place on this, because those who have choosen to participate are obviously entrenched in their previously defined thought processes... lets turn it in a flame war. Like America, I'll cast a pre-emptive strike and mention that:

You're a F U C K I N G L O S E R if you're so insecure in yourself that you feel the need to bererate and belittle those who consider an idea contrary to your own. A real man would just chuckle, and go onto the next thread instead of feeling so threatened that he needs to give into an emotional knee-jerk reaction to put his own spin on things.

As for logic, there's a whole bunch of logic that goes into emotion. Especially the emotion that brews inside of you when your beliefs are called into question by idiotic, emotional propaganda. The sort of propaganda that turns otherwise logical people, into spiteful, character attacking bastards.

And since it really does bug me, and I'm man enough to admit that I'm being emotional and have been bugged by it being implied that I'm illogical, and an easily manipulated puppet... I'd like to compare headspaces, as manifested in the books that we've read over the last couple of years. A few from my bookshelf are

Influence: Science and Practice by Robert B. CialdiniThe 48 Laws of Power by Robert GreeneQuantum Psychology by Robert Anton WilsonQED by Richard FeynmanNeuro-Linguistic Programming: Psychological Skills for Understanding and Influencing People by Joseph O'Connor

So now, please... give into your instincts to flame me back. Please be sure to point out all the places that I've proven myself to be an idiot, because I'm willing to back up my right to present to you guys a broader perspective, which has originated beyond what you usually see on TV and read in the papers. While you're doing that, I'll go back to reading about SR20DET 240SX, KA24DE powered Datsun 510's and save my open minded conversations for forums where they can be considered by individuals secure enough in their own beliefs, to objectively and logically consider a couple of pages of evidence provided to them on the internet.

Since I got kind of off topic, I'll just briefly add this. Please, SmithSR... post up whatever you want. You have my word, that I'll support your right to discuss whatever you want to discuss in the general forum and that anything you discuss... I will contribute to in a positive manner, without any of the borderline personalized quips that have appeared in this thread.

Please, do as I do. Enjoy your ability to think freely, and speak about your thoughts.

What a hilarious pile of dung. That stuff reads JUST LIKE a horoscope! When it says "Sources say..." it doesn't name ONE. When it says "so and so received an award", well, DUH! Read it with a critical eye. Think to yourself as you do, "Is there ANY way this could be 'spun' to influence my perception of it?" Implying causality is a typical strategy of the conspiracy theorist. Amazing that any credibility is granted this rubbish by an intelligent person just because it is nicely packaged.

Phax, we're all very impressed with the names of the books on your shelf. I'll refrain from calling you an idiot or a puppet, as you're clearly an intelligent person (which I choose to deduce from your writing, NOT your "bestseller" list - a weak indicator of intellect). However, I WILL state once again that a case can be made for many ridiculous things given enough effort, and taken out of context and heaped together, can appear to damn even the most basic truths.

lilaznvietboi - You post was by far the most asinine of the bunch. Do a little research on "IQ testing" before spouting such garbled nonsense.
