... That's because they rely on the US government system in place only since the 1990s or so. That system uses a 17 digit number, not an old, 11 digit number like I have. Also, if I am not mistaken, the VIN is stamped on the engine, while the chasis number is usually on a plate, inside of the door well. That's where mine is, anyway.
Also, my vehicle was probably produced for the "export" market, because it has a King Cab, and short bed. Furthermore, unlike most 720s, it may actually have been built in Japan, instead of Tennesse, which may be another reason for the weird number.
No 11 digit folks out there?
