Wow, I have to change my oil every 3,000. I am so OCD about it that it is nearly impossible for me to ignore lol. I once let it go to about 4,000 due to funding and I was freaking out about it every mile over 3,000.

Haha! nice i'm not alone. I pushed it to 3,500 before i was convinced i could hear the engine wearing down.

On a side note, this is probably me but did Mobil 1 5w-30 get darker over the past couple of years?

In Europe Nissan recommends 15.000 km and in some countries even 30.000 km between oil changes.

I currently do 15.000 km between changes on both of my cars.

i just got the Z 2 weeks ago with 5K miles. I've been using Mobil 1 oil + filter on my altima. I will continue to use Mobil 1 oil and filter on my new Z. I usually change it every 6 months or 3K miles...

You know what they say about Q synthetic, it makes HP!!! Now go buy that!

In reality, Mobile 1 is enough to keep your engine happy. Richie just has a bad habit of wasting his money on unnecessary purchases.

If you race your car in a regular basis, and subject your engine to prolonged high revs and temperatures, then royal purple might serve your engine well because of its high tolerance for heat and ability to maintain its viscosity in extreme conditions.

In short, you will see none or very little performance out of a royal purple vs. mobile 1 synthetic. I've done 1 oil change with royal purple. Nothing different except for the price.

As someone who uses royal purple also, rp recommends using their oil filter to actually have a full royal purple oil change. They also recommend using it for the life of the engine and not going back to other brands. You are spending the extra money on this brand like I am. Might as well do it right. I love rp and will never go back. For my z atleast. Also i use 5w30 for my vq35hr 08.

5W-30 DELO 400.. I use it on all my cars and diesel truck. It's got high counts of additives of Zinc, Phos., Boron, Calcium & Moly.. really can't ask for a better oil in any engine.

Do you actually notice a difference running Royal Purple? Just picked up my 07 ZR last weekend, previous owner ran Mobile 1 synthetic and just did a fresh oil change, so it'll be a few months before I'm due.

Anybody that says they can notice a 'difference' changing from one oil to another..........well, I would be seriously questioning the judgement there. You will be very hard pressed even to show a rock solid fuel mileage change.

I was thinking of going with Amsoil myself. I used it in my truck before I got rid of it and I never had a problem. Has anyone used it in their Z? How does Amsoil and Motul compare? I also heard somewhere that if you use something other than the Nissan stuff for your tranny and diff that it voids the warranty or something like that...any truth to that?
As long as you use the correct viscosity and correct compatible Oil and Fluids for your vehicle no manufacturer can void your warranty for not using their store branded products. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (P.L. 93-637) is a United States federal law (15 U.S.C. § 2301 et seq.). Enacted in 1975, the federal statute governs warranties on consumer products. ... The law was created to fix problems as a result of manufacturers using disclaimers on warranties in an unfair or misleading manner.

I recommend you check out AMSOIL :) our 100% Synthetic Oil and Micro-Nano Fiber filters are second to none.
