I have a 92 240sx and was wondering what is the best intake to have? A cold air or a ram air. I have a cold air know and it seems to bog down a little when its cold and thought a ram air may help that?

The Cold Air, Meaning the one that drops down behind the Fog light will in theory produce more power, since colder air that is in front of the car has a greater density that the warmer air that is inside the engine bay. the Kit I bought allowed for me to do either. I went with the Ram Air inside the engine bay because it rains all the time down here and I don't want a bent piston rodAs far as best Intake, without a Turbo, between these two there is not that much difference. Oh yea IBTL

1 straight pipe with a filter on the end.

Least amount of resistance; no bends what so ever.

Cut a hole in the hood for the filter.

Unless you want to drive in the rain.

relocate your battery to the back and put the intake on where the battery is. you get better weight distribution, colder air on that side and you don't have to worry about water.

something like this.$22 mod ftw

Well, I was sort of serious here,

Ideally you do not want any bends in your intake, so a straight pipe would be the only way to obtain this. Modifying your hood to protect it from the elements would be needed, but it would give you the best performance possible.

but an intake alone only will give 1 HP and the sort of design I am talking about wouldn't be necessary at your level.

And what do you mean by bog down? at idle, wot, under load?

thats my car lol... i miss my s14

but yea dude, it worked great for me. it also made the suction a little louder.

i also suggest using an electric fan and getting rid of that dam clutch fan. it makes the engine bay look more spacey

In physics theory ( and in most race applications) yes.

This type is used generally on race 1/4 mile cars and track cars; basically when you are trying to get as much HP possible. Bends within tubes create minature vortexs, causing the air to travel that much further before it gets to the engine.

So for the BEST possiable set up, a straight pipe is the way to go; for the most practical; do something else lol.

I really hate to too but where do I find that little short ram that goes in where the battery used to live? What model/year car do I look that up under on the ebay? Thanks and apologies

get one for a 91-94 240 and cut it in halfwith the vacuum lines you have to run them around up under the intake, and then to the place where they go, because if you don't they'll pinch.
