quick question...are the driveshafts for an automatic transmission and manual transmission for the rb25 the same length?as in, if you get a custom driveshaft made for an auto tranny, but do a 5 speed swap, can you use the same driveshaft?thanks

You can not, as the auto drive shaft and manual transmission drive shaft uses different yokes into the rear of the transmission. They also differ in length.

The harnesses dont exactly match up per se, but you can make an RB20 to S13 harness out of the two. Search Rb20 writeup or Rb20 to s13 wiring.

OR you can pay a company or Carl H, a member on here, to do it for you for exceptionally better quality.

What about motor and tranny mounts? Will I have to redo all of that?

For mounting the engine you can use the KA engine crossmember and buy aftermarket mounting brackets. With these you'll usually get brackets to mount the engine, tranny crossmember, and motor mounts.

You can also use the engine crossmember from a R32 skyline that had the RB20. It's cheaper to go this route since you can use stock KA mounts. HOWEVER, there is a high chance that you will need a new turbo elbow since the stock one might hit the steering column.

As for the transmission... If your car was an automatic, you can use the tranny crossmember and stock mount. A new crossmember comes with one of the aftermarket kits.

OK I see that FOr the RB20 swap the OEM setup with the aftermarket mounts was recommended over Mckinney but what about the RB25, would the Mckinney setup be beter over the R33 cross member with the Syko mounts? Im putting the RB25 into an S14 and im buying the Mckinney downpipe either way but i wanted to knw what would be betr the Mckinney or the Syko iv gotten mixed answers i would think that the SYKO is betr cus its closer to factory but i wanna knw ur guyss answers.

Hey man did you have to take out the mounts that sit on the crossmember or do you leave those on and bolt them right up to that?

Depends on what intercooler your getting for your car. If your going to be using a stock sidemount intercooler, the stock piping is 2.5" (At least I'm pretty sure it is, but I'm not near mine right now...). As far as FMIC, you could use 3" piping, but you might have to get a reducer coupler if the crossover pipe is smaller. Hope that helps!

Ah. Well I ran an rb20, but my friend has the greddy manifold with a larger throttle body and he is running 3" piping and a 32"x12"x3" intercooler, but yes trimming is involved :)

here you go

Tach Recalibration.

1. Pull Cluster
2. Remove Backin and Clear plastic cover for the gauge.
3. Take a sharpie and mark where the needle sits on the gauge face so when you're pulling the needles off you'll know where it sits so its not screwed up when you put them back on, you can also mark the spot it sits on.
4. Remove the gauge faces.
5. Where the tachometer face is... there is a variable resistor that you can stick a screwdriver in.
6. Ussually you turn it all the way to the left.
7. Once you've done that, do this entire process in reverse order.

Now since all motors are a little different and so are the electrical outputs, you might have to pull it back out, an then turn it a litte more right and a little more right, to get it perfect. Just keep doing it untill you're satisfied or if you have an SAFC it makes it alot easier to calibrate.

When using the sharpie on your gauge cluster, to get the stuff off, all you need it some axe body spray, or some red zone body spray. Apply it to some cloth and dab it onto the area that the sharpie has been applied to and it will either slowly or pretty much instantly come off.

If i left out anything or you're still confused quote and reply to this.

Hi Joe..I was reading up on the swap by GTRs13 (AWD 240sx RBxxDET(T) swap!) i didn't want to bring it back from the dead but it does have detailed info for the S13 all the pics are down:( I'm a newbie here but not to building engines, fabing, painting, designing and what not. Just wondering if there is a database that these pics are stored on. I can draw an image from some of the text but would like to see the details and what I'll be doing with my S14. I'm heading back to AZ to get my turbo civic and get it retuned by Joe Locash, I see you are in Phx I'm from mesa:) Well I hope you or another member can assist with this. In advance Thanks!

Quick question for anyone who may know....I'm prepping to do a RB25DET swap in my S14, and want to keep the cruise control feature. I know that Wiring Specialties makes a harness that retains the feature, but the throttle body pulley on my KA has two slots for both cables, whereas the RB only has one. I've done a little research and saw something about welding a pulley on to the RB TB, or replacing the pulley with the one off a KA, but wanted to get confirmation. Also would it be easier to achieve with a Q45 or some other TB? Thanks in advance.

I have a question for those that might have finished this swap. It's small but bothering me. Ive assembled everything I need to get the motor into a s13. Sending the bay for paint Jan 2.
So my humble question is, when I delete ac, the two inlets at the firewall are left open. Has anyone found a cap or a way to cap these. The more aesthetic the better?
I've searched but not getting very far, and dont want to leave them open?

Thanks for the bump.
OP, if you havent sorted your wiring yet and are interested in a harness, let us know. I have the RB25 to S13 in stock.

Quick question. Now that a few years have pasted, what are the most recommended mounts for an RB25 swap into an S14? I know that now there are quite a few companies making them, some cheaper than others.
