saw it... thanks though. i don't like the nick name "panda Z", so.... i dunno. I don't plan to do the CF aero kit though.... just the roof, a & b pillars, hatch, and hood. and the mirror post. thinking i'm gonna keep the mirror covers the way they are... we'll see. found a hood and hatch on e-bay for decent prices, emailed the sellers for more pics and had some questions on quality... may buy the hood within the month! and have everything done before summers end. then again might make it a winter project... we'll see

If your car is white, it would look like a cop car.

When I was shopping for my Z I looked at a silver one with the same carbon fiber you are looking at getting. I wasn't a huge fan. I think it looks much classier all white but it's all personal opinion.

I prefer a blank stock look, (most don't) but i guess that's just me.

i.e. no rims, no special lights, no kits, no aftermarket exhaust, and no two toned paint jawbs.

I prefer everything OEM genuine Nissan like my spoiler, and if i were to get new rims I would get 18'' g35 rims with Nissan center caps.

Here is a picture of my zee, it has about 1.15k into it. can you tell. NO

they're after me lucky charms.

i do agree with the stock look, and always felt that if i get carbon fiber anything, just paint it to match the car, then i saw a white one thats done like this - and i liked it. I don't like body kits and all that flashy stuff either, and another thing i was thinking about the CF is after an SC or Turbo is installed because i believe you shouldn't make your car look faster than it is. If i see a car decked out with a body kit big wing and all that, i think if he has that much on the outside, whats on the inside - and when i found it its nothing beyond a CAI i just laugh. I do think the first thing that needs done to a Z is wheels though. The factory wheels of any year are too plain for the car IMO.....

Exposed CF is annoying to deal with. Gotta keep the car out of the sun or covered. Or you have to stay on top of your wax all the time. Sun light really puts a toll on CF. If this is you daily driver then I wouldn't do it. Degraded carbon fiber looks disgusting.

Depending on how much weight you even save from the carbon fiber I would just get it painted. If with the paint it weighs the same as the OEM parts then it's not worth it. How heavy could your hood be anyway? I know the G35 hood is aluminum. Light as hell. I have a fiberglass one on now and there was no noticeable difference in weight. I know the 350z is lighter then the g and i would assume it would have an aluminum hood aswell.

well my cousins 91 vette hood / fenders all flip up as one, and its lighter than the hood on my Z.... (fiberglass).... also my buddy had CF hood on his civic, and it was sooooo light. I would imagine even with paint it would be significanlty lighter... i have a buddy at work that has a CF hood thats painted on his tiburon, i'll have to have him pop it for me next time he drives it in.

Do you know what the 350z hood is made of? I was just guessing that it was aluminum because how closely related the G and Z are. If it's steel then yeah. Go Lighter.

i believe its steal, but even if aluminum... painted CF is lighter than painted glass, and his is way lighter than mine is now.... if it was close in weight, no one would do it... because it would be a complete waste of money...

Not really. Some people are obsessed with the look of exposed CF. Makes them feel exotic.

You could always weigh your hood. If it is anything like the G then it comes off with 4 10mm(If i remember correctly) bolts. 5 min tops to take off. Would have a friend to help so not to scratch the paint or bash the windshield.

By weighing stock parts you could be educating the Nico z community. We could see how much weight would be saved by going to CF or fiberglass. Most companies that make aftermarket hoods should know how much their products weigh. A simple phone call or e-mail to those companies could obtain that info. Weight reduction is their selling point. Plus they have to ship the bastards. We could have a nice write up going on comparing different companies and their products to stock.

WOW I cant get over how much you guys stress over 5 or 10 lbs of car weight. Hell I can hold that in my bladder on a good day. Just turbo or supercharge the Z and I promise you wont have a 50lb weight problem. Case Closed!!

Only reason I have a fiberglass hood is because a silverado backed into me. But other enthusiasts could get some info to help them choose whether it would be worth the price to them. I think it would be a nice source of info and a nice little write up for the Nico scene.

You know the nsx type S had its gear boot changed from leather to mesh to reduce around .23 grams.

Actually I did read that. That is kind of funny, they should have just twin turbo that car. IMO. I looked at a lease but they were only allowing 12,000 miles a year. That would have been tough to stay inside. I test drove yellow NSX for a week and when I brought it back I really did not want to give it up but a mechanic at Acura told me that you waste tires every 8k miles. That cured me of wanting that car. But man did that thing handle like no other car I have driven.
