Very well put, that's what i thought you meant the whole time. Just bustin your chops bro. I agree about the tcs/vdc button. It would've been pretty awesome if nissan put that button on the steering wheel, or have so that it stays off everytime you start the car.

Ok, granted I'm a total newb but I'm learning a bit listening to you guys. I'm confused on the LSD though. How does the base lay down two equal tire marks? What does the base come with? How is this better/different than having an LSD and finally, that being answered, is an LSD worth the price?

Thanks!

the base z comes with an open diff. an lsd is better it helps to provide better traction. in the z's(all except base) we have a viscous limited slip differential or VLSD as its know. the vlsd uses viscous fluid that when at a certain speed heats up and expands causing the diff to lock up like a posi.

Thank you. That makes better sense. So the fact that when i take off and leave to equal black strips means pretty much nothing. I was trying to figure out what the heck I had, as I have a base I knew it couldn't be a vsld but i was confused by the posi behavior.

I started with what I didn't like and I ended up thread-jacking. My apologies for that I was just confused by the fact that I've got a base with apparently no LSD which still lays two perfectly equal stripes down and spins both wheels. So here's my dislike, I dislike when people do stuff to their Z's and don't tell anybody else what's been done, leaving them to figure it out on their own and hijack threads.

Yea, bought it mid 07. It's sitting at the Nissan distributorship right now because I tried installing the KPtechnologies door modules and kicked it into Lock Out Mode. (nothing to do with the modules by the way, just a coinkydink)

I agree with the general census that the blind spots are huge in this car. The worst part about the z is it's naturally aspirated status. Should have invested more time in R&Ding a turbo version instead of a Nismo option.

+1^ Everyone seems to wonder why the 350Z never introduced a V6 turbo (twin) out of the factory. Well if they did, nissan wouldn't have a reason to sell the GT-R for $70k+.

Everything. The original 240z was great, and the 260 and 280 were good as well. Those cars inspired a whole generation of nissan/datsun enthusiasts. Every generation since was crap and didn't inspire anything.

The spiritual replacement for the Z was the 240sx but nissan is too blind to see that. The current 350/370 z is a great example of a car designed by comity for a group of blind consumers.

The current z is not a sports car, but it is marketed as one...I'd rather have a g35 because it is prettier and doesn't pretend to be a sports car.

The 240sx was an economy version of the Z. It has 4 cylinders, and four seats unlike the any of the previous Z's. Not to mention a stock suspension that doesn't compare to the handling any Z in history. Yes, many 240's find their way to countless drift competitions. And that's excatly what they are--show competitions not races. The 240sx was built as an affordable version of the Z, and is nowhere close to even being a track worthy vehicle in stock form. BTW, I would like to hear your definition of a sports car.

You know what they say about opinions and @**holes, everybody has them. I think this as any other discussion should be taken with a healthy dose of multiple grains of salt. I have had my Z for a little over a year and a half and I love it. The little crappy things about it are subjective, you either like it, love it or deal with it. Overall I've had absolutely ZERO problems with it that I didn't initiate myself and personally I love the SPORTS car Z for what it is. Quick, good looking, great handling and not built for groceries or kids.

how can you say the 350 is not a sports car. the z line has always been about the same thing great looks and high performance thats what made them so popular so many years ago and still to this day. and if your gonna get any z of any gen get the last year of any gen because it is bound to be the best because all the kinks have been worked out. for example the NEw hr engine is perfection remember that vq35de the one that can handle about 400hp safe well ive seen people on other fours with the new HR running 600hp safe the 07/08 is probably the best years to buy in the 350z gen.

Hmm well my definition of a sports car would be nimble light and fast. The Z has become a touring car.

As for the 240sx it is the only car that nissan has produced that has come close to the original z in as a sports car (light, nimble...).

Regarding the 240sx suspension...how is it not just like the z32? Multi link front and rear with antisquat ...they even had that silly hicas on the s13. I would say that the 240sx suspension is better than all previous z generations and equal to the z32...as for the new z33/34 suspension it is just strange, big and heavy.

We can talk stock for stock all you want, but I am not here for the stock cars, I modify them. My s13 will crush any stock Z and about 95% of all stock cars on the road. The beauty is that I did it for less money with my s13 than you could with a Z31-Z34. Old school Zs are a different story.
