The Skyline is my second car I've owned, my first car was a 1997 Mitsubishi FTO (the JDM version of an Eclipse I would imagine); very nice car, not quite as fun as a G35 but hey, it was my first. Don't have any pics uploaded, this was the closest I could find as to how mine looked, except it was silver.

Another Johnson with a mustang! I came close to buying a super bee back in the day, but it was in ruff condition, so I passed. Bought the 69 Mach instead for $850.

Yeah - only had the Super Bee for about 6 mos - loaned a friend some cash and held the car until he paid me back - never lost a race in that bad boy... close call to a hot lil brunette in a 63 split window out of Cheyene tho - she could drive and obviously had more than stock under that hood.

It would seem that we must be long lost relatives - so does that mean we own Johnson & Johnson? where is our stock today?

Earlier Saab 9-5 Aero (like around 2000) was an awesome car. But since GM bought a controlling interest, they're not so great. I looked at a 2008 Saab 9-5 when shopping around, but it really didn't connect when driving. Good looking (you gotta like Saabs), nice interior, incredible cup holder, but it didn't feel nearly as good as the G35x (or any of my Audis).

Now, to answer this thread. I didn't trade anything. I still have my Audis. The G35x is for my wife and she was driving a 2000 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro, so I guess you could say the A4 was the predecessor.

I love my Audi TT, but it's not fair to compare it to the G35. The TT's a 6-speed manual and pretty quick (tuned to around 300 hp), but the G35x automatic in Sport mode will give the TT a good run, maybe even faster. The TT's DSG (CVT) transmission makes if faster than a manual. So, I think that's where the G35 has the advantage (and BTW the G35 is only a couple hundred pounds heavier than the TT).

So, here it goes:

1973 Plymouth Duster 318 CID V8 (about 150 hp)1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 305 CID V81979 Datsum 310GX 1.4l (65 hp)1981 Volvo 245 2.1l (107 hp)1977 VW Rabbit 1.6l1986 Nissan Sentra1988 Ford Taurus SW1990 Honda Accord LX 2.2l (125 hp)1991 Mazda MPV (150 hp)1995 Honda Accord 2.2l (130 hp)1995 Ford Windstar 3.8l (150 hp)2000 Ford Taurus 3.0l (200 hp)2000 VW Jetta 2.0 (115 hp) (later supercharge ~160 hp) (JettaRed)1999 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8T (chipped ~190 hp)*2003 VW GTI 1.8T (flashed ~210 hp)2000 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8T (flashed ~200 hp)*2001 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8T (flashed/turbo upgrade ~240 hp)2004 Audi TT 225 Quattro 1.8T (flashed/water injection ~300 hp)*2008 Infiniti G35x 3.5l (306 hp)*

*Still in the driveway.

1st Car: 1989 Ford Escort GT (03-04) bought for $350 used during high school, ran good, sold it for $850.

2nd Car: 1993 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 (04-08) Was my dream car since I was 10, when I started saving for it. About $6k in mods, sold it for the G and even though I miss it at times, I don't regret it.

3rd Car: 1995 Cadillac Deville 32v Northstar (07-present) Picked this up for $2000. with only 72k miles, runs great, sucks on gas, mainly use in rain/snow. Very comfortable ride for cruising and fits 6 people comfortably.

4th Car: 2004 Infiniti G35 Coupe 6MT (08-present) Took 2 months to find, but worth the wait, I love it! Can't wait to start the mods!

Just curious, what attracted you to an Infiniti/Nissan forum??Of course, you don't have to own one, but are you thinking about getting one?? Or is it because this IS the best automotive forum!?

just a general question guys.. but how often to you buy a new or used car? every 5 years? every 10? whenever you feel like it?

i've had my current for over six years now.. it's paid for.. but it's getting up there in mileage (165k).. i know i can squeeze another 50k easily on it (4 more years).. but a part of me just wants something new to drive

for me, major events caused the change. got my first car, sold it when i went off to college. got my second car sophomore year, sold it when i graduated. got my current car upon graduation and its a keeper. given teh current financial crisis, im not going to change for quite some time.
