What did you buy for your EX, this week?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I don't think there is anything wrong...It just isn't a great range. This car's remote has better range than my previous Lexus', Toyota, Acura, or BMW. But my Tahoe and my F150 had a much better range than this car. So I would say this is just an average range for an OEM remote. I did have an aftermarket remote starter in my F150 and I could literally start the car from inside of the mall. I wish they would make the OEM remote with that kind of range.

Got an AWD tow warning sticker, hidden under the the hood so it can only be seen if the VIN is being read off the windshield.

Bought from this guy. If you get one, make sure to get the outside mount http://stores.ebay.com/The-BoostCreeper ... 7675.l2568

Got super bright white LEDs for the 2 lamps in the trunk, and the 2 door foot / puddle lights. Left the rest of the interior lamps stock for their warmth, intensity, and fade. Since LEDs have a threshold, they can't fade off without a work function.

For the trunk (You will have to cut a little bit of the lamp clip metal for these to fit). : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EJ ... UTF8&psc=1

Enjoying using my around-view cameras while driving as well as watching DVDs (safely) while in motion. The Homelink garage door opener buttons on the mirror are programmed to activate these features. Super cool! http://www.carkitcompany.com/infiniti-bypass-kits Ordered for the FX, got the instructions for the EX. Use a screw on the side of the radio for the ground.

Remote starter:

It uses the OEM Infiniti remote to start with Lock, Lock, Lock. The warm car in the morning is nice. I ordered this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NA ... UTF8&psc=1. Did not need a programmer, and used this video for install instructions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clGg8h72RQc, But the center console also needs to be removed to get to our start button, and use the BLUE wire, not the BROWN/WHITE wire to the PTS. That took me a while to figure out.

It's cool working on this car to see how well put together it is by Nissan.

Installed the metal sports pedals. $25 off amazon shipped.

They seem to be the same as what I had on my EX35. Great for rainy days. Much grippier and look great.

Those are very cool. Look like they're decent quality too. What are they worth?

Just bought some weathertech mats yesterday.

Denso (3442) FXE22HR-11 Iridium Long Life Spark Plug (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/offer-listing/ ... rtIndex=10) but the price last week was 25bucks each.
Changed them and cleaned up the throttle body with a break cleaner and a towel.

After you have removed the air pipe and box where the air filter comes, there are 4 screws holding the Throttle body. In my case, they were really stuck so had to use little bit of the force to make them free. Once you remove the throttle body, use a little bit more of paper towel and insert it into the hole on engine side to protect of having something to fall inside. Be careful not to push it to deep cause it will be a pain to take the towel out.

Now, when u have a throttle body free, spray one side with the break cleaner, leave it for a bit and wipe it with the paper towel. If it has gotten to dry (break cleaner dry really fast), spray it once again and wipe it off. (in my case, it was really dirty and dark). Be careful not to push the '*ear'. Just wipe it gently over its surface. I was little bit scared not to break the 'ear' so didn't play around it too much.

*the thing which closes and opens to let/stop air coming into the engine.

So far, I can tell car works better. Have driven it for a week after I changed the plugs and cleaned up the throttle body and when car is in idle, RPMs are stable at 800 (don't jump from 400-800 like before).
Also what I have notice better, so far when engine is warm, car hasn't shoot off, which was my No1 issue.

Good luck in cleaning, let us know how yours went.

They do nothing. Just dress up the hardware a bit.

I also got a Gentex mirror with compass since they remove the compass if you get the GPS navigation option. I missed it.

Decided to do a little more work on the car today while I had some time. I polished the headlights that were starting to fade and haze over and also decided to debadge the rear hatch. I think it looks a lot cleaner now. The pictures actually do NOT do the headlights justice.

What did you use on your headlights? It used to be my steering wheel bezel that was the source of the only ugliness on the car...I way improved that when I got a carbon fiber bezel a few years ago...but now my only source of ugliness are my yellowing headlights. I have tried several things and some work for a few days or maybe a couple weeks, but the yellow slowly returns.
If Infiniti had ever updated the EX/QX in the last 9 years, the price of the headlights might have come down a bit, but these suckers are expensive to replace!...like 10X more that it was to replace some accord headlights. :spitout:

1st thing I did was use the 3M 39008 Headlight Lens Restoration System
https://www.amazon.com/3M-39008-Headlig ... ration+kit

Then after I finished that, I used Blue Magic 730-6 Headlight Lens Sealer on the headlights to put a UV protection back onto them.
https://www.amazon.com/Blue-Magic-730-6 ... ens+Sealer

I've Used this combination on a number of my/friends cars for years and it has worked wonders. It seems to last longer with the sealer, and I get a few years out of the lights before having to re-do them. I am sure the lights will look better for longer if I was to apply the sealer more often (maybe every few months or every oil change or something)
