Post

I have a 1993 2.4L automatic nissan hardbody and I have a cold air intake, performance plugs and wires, and soon to have a boss perfomance chip to go along with those. I was wanting more performance, any suggestions?

short of major motor mods the bolt on stuff is about it. Maybe an exhaust system. or mitrous oxide but depending on motor shape that stuff can kill an engine and is short shot and not exactly cheap.

You can go for a slightly larger diameter exhaust system and look at getting a performance muffler. Dynomax has some nice options in that department.

You can also look into changing the gears in the differential but you will be making sacrifices either in 'off the line bottom end torque' or 'top end speed'.

A gear swap should be done in conjunction with tires and purpose for doing the gear swap in mind.. For example: My Xterra has stock 4.363 gears. I can turn a 31" tire around the city but on the highway my passing ability suffers. Stock tire size from the factory is about 29".

So now I am going to swap in 4.88 gears and run 33" tires. According to the math I should regain some highway passing ability and lose only a small amount of low end torque in the process.
