Love the attention to detail and the care that goes into your projects. I hope to be able to do this one day soon. Keep up the great work!

Simply amazing, Toby.

99.9% of this forum works for years to build their 240 once. You build yours multiple times, improving every time. You say it's not a show car.

While that may be true, it is absolutly a show-QUALITY car.

I went ahead and had the cross member, Nismo Power Brace and steering rack brackets powder coated a gloss black. I fought for a little while on the color, but came to the conclusion that black is the only color that fits my style for that type of part:

Cleaned up the wiper motor and mounted up the new Chase Bays master cylinder setup:

My steering rack needed some serious cleaning and help. Even though you won't really be able to see it under the motor, I needed to address it:

Image

I cleaned all of the cast aluminum up with some Maxx Solv and painted the rods and body with some gloss black epoxy paint. I thought I uploaded the pic of the finished product to my Fotki, but it's not there. So I'll post that pic later as I'm at work at the moment.

At this point I couldn't really think of anything better than dropping the motor in for a test fit. I want to give a huge thanks to my boys Kyle and Jeff for giving me hand with this:

Image

Image

Me struggling putting the drivers side header in. I actually had to have the motor mounts up and out of the cross member, then drop each header into the car. Then lower the motor into place and bolt the headers up:

It's officially in... well, temporarily:

The nice thing is that there isn't going to be much else in the bay that isn't in there now. I will be tucking the radiator, battery in the trunk, tucked coolant overflow etc. So really the only other things that will be seen in the bay are just a custom intake setup, black braided AN radiator hoses with all black fittings, AN heater hoses also with the all black setup, custom oil filter relocate setup... again with the same all black AN stuff.

I'ts been a pleasure reading this the whole time you've been working on it. I've waited a long time to see this and boy has it paid off. I need to go change my shorts...

When I read test fit, I actually held my breath while I was scrolling down until I saw the pictures.

It will be a month or more probably before I have any note worthy updates. I'm ordering about $4,000+ worth of AN stuff, so it's going to be a little before I can save up the funds for that. And that is holding me up from doing a lot of other stuff. I also have to get the bay repainted because the white is a shade or two off. Which the motor was coming back out anyway, so not too big of a deal.

Requesting any kind of update no matter if it was taking a bolt 1/4 of a turn out.

I just came in from the garage after finishing scuffing the whole bay down. It goes back in for paint early this morning. I'll trailer it back home this evening or on Sunday. Then I can start getting stuff done for good.

Lots of updates after the new year, or still waiting to place the initial XRP order?

Yeah, still waiting to place the XRP order. I started collecting the payments this week though... so hopefully placing the order the first of the year. If anyone wants in on the group-buy please let me know. You can actually find info on the first page of my blog. I got the car back from paint a couple weeks ago. It turned out perfect... again. Only this time the correct white. I have not even taken the time to remove the tape from the holes etc, but you get the idea in the picture. It's amazing how difficult it is to capture gloss white with a camera. In the picture it looks sort of matte... but trust me, it's as wet looking as possible, just like the rest of the car.

I got a good portion of my AN fittings in from XRP. This stuff is REALLY nice... I'm impressed! First thing is to make some custom bulk heads for my heater hoses at the firewall. I can then toss the motor back in and start making the rest of the lines. For now a few pictures will do:

In-line oil filter setup with -10 hose:

i was wondering if you can still wire the digital cliamte control and make it work with the LSX engine harness for full functionally for the heater and A/C... what are you going to do about that, or are you not gonna run any???

Yeah, that's not a problem at all... it will be fully functional. The -8 lines above are actually for the heater hoses. I will not be installing the A/C right away, but I will probably work on that over the next winter. I just want to get the car on the road by July, so I probably won't have the time or money to get A/C in there.
