The struts on my 02 q45 premium are making a tapping/clunking noise every time I go over a bump so I am guessing with 115k miles ther are due t be replaced. What are my options? Thanks

There's not a lot of aftermarket options but stick with OEM shocks/struts.Replace the bushings too. Go and get it from our sponsor and they're having additional 5% off this month. http://www.infinitipartsusa.com.

Hotlick!

Before you change out your struts and stuff, toss her on a lift and check to see if the 'bar' next to the sway bar is hitting the exhaust.

I had the same issue and it turned out that this bar next to the sway bar was hitting my exhaust. Use your weight and pull it down--done! No more noise going over any bumps!

If not, time for a strut & bushing replacement.Cheers!

Make sure the noise isn't from your end links first. If it is the shocks...get them from http://www.infinitipartsusa.com or ask your local dealership to match the price.

OEM shocks wear to 1/2 stiffness by 4 years or 60,000 miles no ifs or ands about it!

Waiting 8 years and 115k just shows your vehicular insensitivity to as new feel and performance, but most drivers are numb anyway.

So you are saying that after 60,000 miles no matter what they need replaced?

Any improvments to aftermarket struts for our vehicles? My front struts are clunking when going over speed bumps so not sure if it's the entire shock that needs to be replaced or just parts. Anyone?

In my search on options for my 97' I ran into B/C Racing coilover options for your car

https://coiloverdepot.com/products/02-0 ... EBEALw_wcB

make sure to buy "with spindle" or you have to take them off your old strut. The plus is the car will sit a little lower (if you chose to) and it will transform you car into an "M" version of the car, it will handle MUCH MUCH better. BUT, the car will ride much stiffer, trade off for sure. These can be rebuilt too so if your going to keep your car for another 100k you can put new inserts into them later on...that is your single other option.

^^ I do not have any affiliation with them. Dont want to offend anyone. Given this unbelieveable world we live in now.

54302-AR126 front right 460$
54303-AR126 front left 460$

56210-AR026 230$
56210-AR029 230$
Doesnt say left or right for these
1380$ plus shipping. Would say 200$ shipping. 1580$ that's just the struts and boots let alone the hats and other odds and ends. Buy all 4 at once they will give you atleast 10% unless your haggling skills are superior.
Aftermarket coilovers... if you want that route. But they dont last nearly as long

I wouldn't say that, BC inserts last at least 60k minimum, i put 30k on mine and they were still as good as new. But the inserts are much cheaper than another 1300 and less labor. But they will make the car ride stiff for sure.

I stand corrected. I dont have experience on this model Q. But have experience with other aftermarket coils on other vehicles. It all really depends on the driver and which product. Comes down to pick and choose

Thank you for the suggestion. If the car sat just a tad lower that would be a bonus.

Naw i meant if it sat lower than stock, after switching to coilers, that would be nice. I wouldn't cut the springs although back in my Mustang/Cobra days a lot of guys would cut the stock springs to lower the car instead of purchasing a lowering kit. :wtf2:
