I got my CA back in august. We started working it on my friends basketball court lol. We ran into a multitude of problems because they guy who had the 240 before me obviously did not care to take care of it. I have a lto of rust basically and putting my car on jackstands punched a little hole through a subframe in the weak part of it. That and my friend who is supposed to be the expert and me the learner has done a lot of things i dont agree with ( i work on planes in the Air Force so i know some about maintenance and procedures). That doesnt help.

Well all problems aside we got the KA out ... my CA is on a crate with a tarp over it outside. we ran into HUGE problems getting the exhaust manifold off and finally got it off. now... we ran into the biggest problem of them all.. the motor mount top broke on my car... it was broke for a while even when the engine was in ( you know that rubber part that holds the base and the top part together.. its really hard to explain.. ill probably have to take pics). Well anyways we cant get a bolt off to get that damn mount off... it just WOULD NOT COME OFF and it has the worst clearance to get any tool in there.. it seemed impossible as we rounded off that bolt too bad .. my friend who promised he had all the tools he needed for this obviously ****ing didnt. So that really made me mad. We resorted to having to get a grinder for it.

3 weeks later i finally found a grinder i could use for free ( i kinda ran out of money due to some problems but i got a lot of money coming in now). So were just having to grind one part off. Now the other mount is in fine... so we go to look at my CA and one of the mounts on it is completely gone! the exact side we grinded off on the car... so we have two right side mounts ... what should we do? i go to take off the mount on the engine but i have no clearance to get my damn socket wrench in there... it seems IMPOSSIBLE to get that off but i just know it isnt.. im really thinking about just towing all my parts and miscallaneous crap and all my bolts ( which over half need t obe freaking replaced.. my car had some horrid bolts in it... the bumper wasnt even there just a cover!)) . And having some professional get this done for me. Its august.. im hitting october and its been sitting in a yard.. the engine is outside covered by a tarp and its rained a few times... this is just making me sick to see that happening but my friend i dont trust anymore to work on a car with... Can i take a mount off the engine and throw it on the other side or does the 240 require diferent side mounts( by the way the mounts for it are EXPENSIVE! like 110 dollars for a mount!!!). I know i seem confusing when i talk about this.. blah.. sorry. I just want to know basically if they are same side mounts

on a sidenote. I have some rust in my engine bay.. ive cleaned a lot the best i can.. under my batter there is kind of a rust hole there... is there a way i can patch that up? The rust really pisses me off as i didnt notice it before being the n00b to cars i was when i bought it in april. I saved my money up for this CA and was ready to do this only to have disaster strike. This damn motor mount business has left me grounded for over a month now.. it just sucks to see people who are like " yeah i did the swap in like 6 hours blah blah" well how about 2 montsh!?!?! haha.... i need opinions on this... thanks!

do not try to use the wrong side mount, it won't line up the engine w/ the transmission / etc at all

my battery tray is basically gone, I found a plastic battery tray thing from something at the junkyard that fits and makes it usable someplace, forgot what from.. at some point I found a battery tray that could be bolted in from another nissan but its too wide by like half an inch..

the stock one is welded in or whatever tho..

get two. and get the CA specific ones.

you can get the CA Nismo mounts for ~200 or so for both, maybe less, from Courtesy Nissan .. its noton their site but they can get them and they stock them now, so they may even have them ready to ship. the part #'s are 11210-RS520 and 11220-RS520, do NOT confuse them with the SR mounts (*-RS540) which ARE listed on their site.

if you get one, the other will just get pwned and destroyed too.

My advice is to get a new 240 shell and start with it. You are asking for a big headache with your present car.

damn dude, sorry to hear about your misadventures. I know how it goes, when I bought my first 240, it looked great but as I took it apart I kept on finding more and more rust, and had the same problem as you regarding the frame rails. I would take Boost Boy's advice and just buy a new shell. That's what I ended up doing and my headache is now gone, it's kinda annoying having to source and buy a new shell/car, just make sure you pull up the carpet, look at the bottom of the rear quater panels, and check the frame rails for rust, those are some of the main places. Trust me, in the end it's worth it. You don't want your car snapping in half the first time you take it out to the track and put any sort of load on the chassis. Good luck man, keep us updated.

I think he's talking about the brackets that bolt to the motor that the mounts bolt to.

If you don't have one, you'll have to get a set from a CA18ET from a 200sx (S12). You will have to get the engine "mount's" or insulators as well as they aren't the same.

I hope that helps. Good luck!

the RUST isnt THAT bad to where its gonna snap in two .... what about if i take some pictures and get some honest opinions from you guys? Because getting a whole new shell is kind of heartbreaking in a way ... thanks for the help guys i appreciate it ... but finding shells would be damn near impossible it seems

Well couldnt you take the cross member off and then take the mounts off that way? I know you would have alot more room to work on them once the cross member is off.

I am using the Ka mounts with the ca20e mount brackets, and my engine sits a few inches higher (still clears the hood). But i would really advice in getting the ca mounts.

Take the engine out from nehind that tarp and get it inside. Your block will be worth **** if you dont keep it inside.
