Hi All,
My hacked 720, well, hacked on itself today. It has been occasionally dying at lets say a stop sign. Today, it was hiccuping, dying, and sputtering. But, it would seem to run fine at around 40 mph. Oddly, it ran great this morning to work. Anyways, The carb looks NASTY as the rest of the truck did and still does under the hood. I thought about rebuilding it, but after close inspection, I can tell that someone has had it off before and therefor, I don't trust it at all. After some debate I bought a Weber. That hurt the wallet!

So, it will be here in a week. I would appreciate any and all help. Feel free to list any weber conversion posts and/or hints, diagrams.

Thank you!

I would LOVE to see a "How to install a Weber" thread. You guys really don't know how close I came to buying one.

I ran a few numbers. The Weber should pay for itself in about a year based on the following. Of course, all the while you would be enjoying better performance too. That's a pretty good investment!

If mpg improves from 22mpg to say 25mpg, then that's a 12% savings in fuel. If the Weber costs $250, then it would pay for itself after $2,083.33 worth of fuel. At $3.50 a gallon, that would be 596 gallons of gas. 596 gallons of gas at 25mpg would take you 14,900 miles - right about 1 year of driving.

While I highly highly recommend the weber dually. You gotta check your ignition as well. new dizzy cap, rotor, coils, wires and plugs. Check vac lines. if living in non emissions state delete everything except the one going to the dizzy. Might wanna keep the tvt valve hook ups too as according to rev retards the timing when cold. At the very least check your vacs real close and make sure you're not leaking. pcv valve is cheap and if you haven't replaced it prolly couldn't hurt. With just that bit done to the motor you should be running like a champ. Oh one more thing those webers like alot of advance. I'm running mine at full advance on the bracket without any pinging. Pezi is running his the same last I talked to him. Hope you get her running smooth...

Thanks. I do hope it works out. I found my Weber for 288.

I have already replaced the pcv, it has new plugs, wires, dizzy, rotor botton look ok. Coils, however, look to be old. I also replaced worn out vac lines. (The ones I saw).

When you talk about the advance, you are talking about the dizzy, right? This will be a learning curve for me! Hense all help welcome!

EDIT: New coils are on the way also...

I shoulda taken some pictures back when I did mine. It really is simple. I could tell you exactly how to do it just based off of what I remember doing myself, but without pics its a bit of a moot point. All Weber carbs come with awesome installation instructions, though.
