I recently got an '84 720 4x4 with the z24 motor and I was messing with the carb today to try and get it running better...well it won't idle at all, it just dies. I believe I will be replacing all the vacuum lines soon, but I was looking around and I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the Weber carb conversions. I've seen it on a few, and it seems like a cool swap. What are the pros and cons of this conversion? Weber seems to turn out a quality product, but before I spend nearly $300 on the sway I wanted some input on it. Any thoughts? Better MPGs? More reliable? Would it do better at funky angles? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there! I and several others here have done a Weber swap. All PROs and no CONs as far as I am concerned. I went from 14 to 23 mpg and it runs great now. My old carb was a mess also, vacuum leaks, etc. Before you tune your new carb, take the time to replace and questionable vacuum lines and make sure your ignition and fuel delivery system is in top shape. Spend the extra 15 bucks or so and buy a fuel regulator. You don't want more than 3 psi going to your Weber. Forget the "dial-o-meters" they are junk! Look at my build thread, it might help you.

Here is a pick of the regulator. n-dually-build-thread-nissan-720-dually ... l#p6163709
