The nissan pulsar's water pump was not designed to handle the extra stress of a fan clutch and fan. You'll need to source one from an S12 200sx or switch to fan aftermarket fans and then you can use the pulsar's pump, but you will need a FWD pulley.

It will, but you will need to exchange your rwd water pump pulley for a FWD pulley off a pulsar if you go with electrical fans. You can use your fan clutch, but you will need to get a water pump from 1984-1988 nissan 200sx (S12 model).

Also keep in mind just because you order a part for the S12 (if you do) they may still give you one meant for the Pulsar, because they are interchangable (physically, obviously the aftermarket units are cheaply built)

a real s12 pump can yes, because its built for it. at this point I'd suspect its more to do with the difference in pully mounting / centering that causes the problem because the FWD ones weren't quite the same, so it wouldn't center it right, leading to problems where it wouldn't have been as much of an issue w/o a fan on it.. the FWD pully works tho on the FWD pump, don't know why that is since the part #'s are "interchangable" according to the parts catalog..
