after putting on my suspension, i have found that the car is incredibly hard to keep under control. its so stiff that i just bounce over bumps and stuff. if the road is the least bit chewed up the car has a tendency to change lanes on me without my consent. it handles like a dream until the road surface gets a little torn up, then it does whatever the hell it wants to. my setup by the way is: H&R sport springs and some custom valved tokico illumina shocks by M's sport (valved for the 180sx). im going to have to buy new wheels so i can get some huge rubber under the car (thinking some 16 or 17 by 8 in the front, 16 or 17 by 9 or more in the back). just wondering if anyone else had noticed this problem.

oh, and if anyone else has H&R sport springs could they tell me if they actually lowered the car the claimed 1.3 inches? my car is now so low that i have trouble with most driveways and i have to avoid speed bumps at all cost. it seems to be about 3 inches off the ground in the front, maybe 3.5 in the back but no more than that.

I finally got my rear bushings replaced, put the rear control arms etc back on last night, amazingly my friend's eyeball alignment job was amazing (he eyeballed, I adjusted and torqued things into place). I can let go of the wheel and it just *barely* drifts left.. take about 5-6 seconds to leave my lane if I let go of the wheel at say 60-70mph. Once I get new tires (these are quite abused) I'll get a real alignment done. The car definately drives much better, got the LCAs, UCAs, and the sort of halfway up front links, but I need another set of bushings for the toe links (doh).

Because Tim, like myself, is afraid to venture outside of the CA section.

lol, you'll find we post random stuff that has very little if anything to do with CA's in here sometimes... especially if you're one of the older guys thats been on here awhile!

but Tim, my suspension is really stiff (and low) and I don't seem to have any problems with it. I drive on a crappy highway with huge expansion joints every day I would say get it all aligned right and it'll feel alot better.

I wonder if the HR's are just stupid stiff? That could have the same effect.

or his shocks are not valved properly for the springrates, and its not dampening enough and causing issues.

and yeah the Ca section is like a general section for us, most of us rarely venture out into the other places on nico. i used to hang out in SR section but im so busy with work im hardly even here anymore..

i would say get the alignment first, and if that doesn't solve the problem I would think the shocks r not valved correctly for the spring rates.H&R springs rn't That stiff. I belive my rsr springs r stiffer, and i dont have that problem.

have a friend push each corner of the car down really hard while u watch to see if it bounces, or if it takes a while to come back up to normal height.

I did get off topic there, sorry about that. And as others have said, yes, if the spring rates aren't stupid high (wich I don't think an H&R is) then the valving has to be too stiff.

I protest!!!

Because you almost shut down one of my threads because of people putting random comments in it. Here in the CA section.

Lets hear it for equal treatment!

p.s. I have been around NICO since '99, i know how you guys are about random chat. I do it myself!
