The VQ35 will fit with no problem. use the transmission from the 350Z, you will need the yoke from the 350 Z drive shaft and have a drive shaft made for the truck. you will need the ecu, wiring harness, and throttle pedal. You might have to build motor mounts, we fabricated the mounts for my VQ30 install, but I also have a complete 240 SX suspension under my 97 Hardbody.

Good Luck with installRoy

I wouldn't say it'll fit with no problem.

You're best off buying a complete wrecked donor vehicle that you can take the wiring harness and ECU from.

As for fit, the D21 and D22 frame rails are pretty narrow set for the VQ motor, and you're going to need custom exhaust manifolds to make it fit. You'll also need a VQ compatible transmission and a custom driveshaft.

Nissan built an 02 Xterra project vehicle with the VQ - it was a friend of mine who built it at the Arizona proving grounds. D22s never went into production with that motor due to the engine width...the engine was too wide to slide down between the frame rails in a frontal impact. Custom headers were needed, and the donor vehicle they used was a QX4. D22 and D21 frames are very similar and are the same width.
