Just a little story, nothing major.Got off work earlier and just turned out towards my house, the car I pulled out behind happened to be a 2.5L Altima. He was quite a bit ahead of me though. Well, he was just cruisin' along, I'd say at the speed limit 55 give or take a few. As I get caught up to him, our lane splits up into a 2 lane for passing and I just head over to the left like I usually do to go by slower traffic. This guy must have been looking back at me approaching because as soon as I started to get up to his bumper area he started speeding up a lot. I took the challenge. I read somewhere on here that our 2.5L engines are a little bit quicker than the altima's and wanted to find out first hand, oooh what a chance! I cruised on by him and he didn't hit his brakes or slow down until about 85-90mph, I was around 90-95mph when I slowed down. Had about 2 car lengths on him at that point. I was kind of nervous about going fast right there because I pass a cop every day around that area as he is getting off duty I would assume. (I pass him on the way to work around that area as well) The guy stayed a good 5 car lengths behind me the rest of the way to town, I even slowed down to like 50 at one point and he stayed that far back. Was quite funny.I think he had his gf in the car too

Just thought I'd share

ps: I can't speak for mods for his car, I know he was riding on lowered springs at least as the car was pretty low. I had music on so I didn't really hear anything to tell if engine sounded anything different than stock. I haven't done anything to power on my car yet.I also realize it was basically a 55 roll to around 90 but I enjoyed winning

Nice one man. I always wanted to see how the spec-v and the altima would fare side by side.

Be safe out there.

i came across this and it sounds just about accurate when i had came across a 2008 sentra ser spec v back last year when i was basically stock (just an exhaust at that time) I got beat by 2 lenths on a roll from 65 to 90mphand with the 2002 thru 2005 stock i actually win by bearly by the fender but my friends 2006 sentra ser spec v he beats me by the fender also (probably about a 3 feet margin)

The older specs are a smaller engine though, makes sense and I wouldn't expect them to win stock vs stock at all.

Older Specs have the same engine as yours. the only difference is updated design and re-tune.

Id imagine the Sentra would win. Same engine less weight.

You guys also need to remember that the altima is heavier, and not all drivers are the same.

Example: my friend has 2005 Scion xA. One of the few heavily modified xA's. When i race him at englishtown (RASR member, i dont street race) I destroyed him every time, he only has 110hp to the wheels, but his car weighs only 1900 lbs. My sentra is just short of 200hp, but my car weighs 3400 lbs. When we switched cars, i race against my own car, i still win in the xA. It has to do alot with the driver.

umm, the B15 and B16 chassis have the same size motor. 2007+ QR25s make slightly more HP though.the same motor is also in the 2.5L altima. And as mentioned before, sentras weigh less, so that gives you an upper hand.

the current QR25 in the SpecV is known as the QR25HO, with the Altima sits about the same as the SE-R. Ao 200hp vs 177, hrmmmm, not quite the same HP, but still a negligable differance.
