the subframe would have to be modified, but thats not a huge deal... the huge deal is the axles. the short axle from the 350z is about the right length to be used as the long axle for my s13, but i still need a shorter axle...

the shorter axle has to be about 1 3/8ths inches shorter than the 350z's short axle, or about 2 3/4ths inches shorter than the 350zs long axle...

anyone know if there are any nissan axles out there that i could use for this application?

otherwise im gonna have to use a different diff, or spend bills on a custom axle...

I also heard that the g35 has a skinnier track than the 350z.... does this mean it has shorter halfshafts? and by how much?
yeah you have to modify the rear subframe to fit the z diff, but why? there are other cars with diffs that bolt right into a 240 without modification and you get the correct final drive too. but if you do modify to fit you can use the factory z axels because they are the correct length and spline count.

my axles seem to be about 1 3/8th inches too long per side...(i have an s13)

modifying the subframe isnt really a big deal though, i have all the tools needed to do it right...

i measured the hub-to-bub distances on both subframes, and the z one was 2 3/4 wider, and this was with them out of the cars so it should be quite accurate

Would you know of any one that could tune the AEM ems in my 240sx with a vq35de swap?

Also I fixed the fuel problem by putting a fitting on the far fuel rail and running a hose to fuel regulator and then a return line to the gas tank.

I was told to run about 65psi of fuel pressure, is that correct?

65 psi could be wrong considering the factory psi is 51psi

Turned down the fuel pressure to 50 psi, and had someone play with the ems but its far from tuned.

use aftermarket links and lower control arm to widen the stance so you don't have to modify the half shafts.

on the bcm there is 3 plugs, 2 are for the main harness and one is for the body harness do you have to have the body harness in place in order to make it run?

I am only running 40 psi on my car. You should contact Bobby at CIN motorsports in Charlotte, NC for tunning on your car. The high fuel pressure on the returnless systems is to make up for fuel vaporization and lack of flow. By having a return system, the fuel stays cooler, flows better and requires less pressure (when using stock setup).

Rear subframe swaps. I've heard of this being done, but am not personaly familiar with it. It will require a rediculous amount of work. I'd just swap the rear cover from the 350Z diff to the one from the 240sx. Also, you'll need q45 rear hubs to accept the axles. There is a way to put the 300zx twin turbo R230 diff in our 240's. That swap is similar as you willl need the same axles used. I believe one is from the drivers side of a Q45 and the other is from another vehicle.

Glad to see people still interested in this thread. As for wiring jobs, I have been busy with my new project (VQ in a 1994 Sentra) and have been working on a few local cars. I wont have time to do any wiring for quite a while. I know it looks overwhelming, but it's not. You guys can do it. If it gets too crazy, I will try my hardest to return emails with whatever help I can give.

Thanks guys!

Good news for the budget swaps out there. I recently purchased a set of extremely inexpensive headers from Rade Design Imports (www.racedesignimports.com) for my Sentra VQ35DE swap. Now, they aren't stillen or JWT quality, but will work great for what I am trying to accomplish. I'm betting they will have some available for the rear wheel drive VQ35DE soon. Check them out. The owner has been great in helping me and actually responds to emails (unlike most Ebay sellers). Sorry to throw this plug in here, but considering the price and good customer service, I feel they need to be mentioned.

OK GANG, are you ready for this?! I took a few measurements at work today.

**if you are doing the 350Z swap into your S13, and you dont want to mess with the shifter and driveshaft problem....just use a 6-speed trans and drive shaft from the 05 and newer X-Terra. Why, cause it will all fit perfectly. Yeap, all the measurements show this to be the exact lengths you need, all the way down to where the shifter pops up through the car! Good stuff huh?

The only fab needed at that point will be the flange from the X-Terra diff will be needed or reflange the driveshaft from the X-Terra with the 240 flange. Thats it.

Man, its wicked how this stuff works.

X-Terra Drive Shaft --- one piece alluminum.

Later all!

would the tail houseing swap between the two trannys alowing you to use a 350z trans and a xterra tail housing and shifter so it will all fit

I saw this post you have from more than one year ago.
Hope you are still around to ask you some questions regarding the latest Tech Buletins for oil consumption.

Ive been following your thread And need to ask a question, I have a BCM for my swap but can not find a proper pin out to power it and when I connect my scan tool with what I think is the BCM powered I can not connect to any thing but if I remove the BCM pin to the DLC I still can connect to the ECM. Id be happy to compensate you for your time.

Thanks,
Aaron
