whats funny is, vq swap dot com is the only company RIGHT now with VQ swap kits, yet they are having trouble selling them. from what i hear anyways.

As soon as the kit I'm working on proves to be solid then you will be seeing a more affordable and better option than VQ swap.

Try looking up on Maxima.org for people who have hybrid VQ30DE/35DE engines. They make it easy with stock wiring.

I once ran into a RWD VQ30 from Japan. Supposedly from a Gloria. It turned out to be a VQ30DD with direct injection that can make up to 260HP in stock exhaust etc. I end up not getting it because I don't have ECU and wiring for it. The thing even came with manifold that looks exactly like 350Z manifold.

So there is no way for the digital speedo to work with the VQ?

What if I rig in a 240 sensor and ECU?

This is inspiring stuff!

It makes me want to throw the VQ30det in even quicker now.

Great work!

Sorry for posting this so late but yea I have dealt with Andrew at San Dimas auto repair. There is still some discussion about what parts I have paid for and what he wants to send me. The money went out in full on April 29 or so. Also, I overnighted it..... and here it is August and the only parts I have received that worked out so far is the cross member AEM EMS and the harness. BUT how the hell do I know if the harness and the EMS is any good? I'll be writing a full build synopsis when the project nears completion. Check my build thread zerothread?id=351373 Feel free to ask any questions and for the digital speedo you might try a company called dakota digital.....

There is NO NEED for a Crossmember. I have done it with a custom fabbed mount made out of stock FWD VQ mount and stock KA24DE mount. There is no need to fab a transmission out either if the engine is placed correctly. Just use a S13 Auto Trans mount. It will bolt on to the Z33 Manual transmission.

The only thing needing minor modification is the driver side exhaust manifold. Just use the stock Z33 exhaust manifold and either bend it or cut and re-weld it.

If placed right, the 350Z intake manifold will clear the stock hood with only the under support needing to be cut.

Holy crap! If would have known that you knew so much about my swap I would have just bought the kit from you! Why don't you start mass producing these things! So how do I make the throttle body work? And where is the TPS info coming from for the control unit? You asked for more detailed pictures of my build, so obviously my cross member worked out. Get your sh*t in one sock before you get to telling people how to do things. And don't BS me about that intake manifold being a mock-up. Don't get me wrong, the manifold is a good bit of figuring and the theory is there, but why would anybody put that much finish work into a "mock-up" piece? I hate to be a d!ck, but it appears to me that you have nothing but negative comments about other peoples projects....514

Doing the ****ty intake manifold myself cost $100 or so in supplies.

Asking for aluminum/stainless steel custom intake manifold cost $1,200.

Do you think I'm going throw out so much money without knowing how it will fit under stock hood?

As for the crossmember, just look at my project for proof. The engine has a lot of clearance from the stock S13 cross member and still clears the stock hood. (no pics of hood but I already tried it on and pulled it off.) I could lower the engine more but I don't want to have issues with steering u-joint.

Seriously, I wouldn't be saying so if I haven't seen an S14 with VQ fitting under an aftermarket hood. It cleared the 350Z intake too.

I could lower the engine half an inch more while still having good clearance. If the transmission is sitting as high as possible, it lowers the front of the engine as well.

Don't mind the trans mount, it's getting replaced as well.

The VQ30DE engine and cross-member clearance.

Engine with the intake manifold on. The throttle body didn't clear on the engine, needs to be push up front by 2 inches.

Motor mounts are nothing compared to wiring work. That's a lot of stuff to be careful about.

I love wiring work! anumeric has some pics of my wire tuck. He may post them on my build thread soon. Any questions about wiring send them my way. I'm not saying I'm a guru or nothing, but I do enjoy the challenge and I have a pretty good understanding of circuits.

The engine bay is 27 inches wide. The engine is about 13 inches on the bottom. on the top it is about 23 inches or so.
