I have a small oil leak (smell it burning) and it looks like it's leaking out of the camshapt position sensor (I see it below, etc). Is this a normal fail? And should I replace the crankshaft sensor at the same time? By the way, I'm getting no check engine light -- just the leak. Thanks!

Oh... and it's a fairly pricey part. Given that it's still working, should I just replace a seal (o-ring?) and tighten it back up?

if you are leaking oil down the side of your TC cover, i would say change the seal/o ring first

3 dollar o ring at nissan -- they didn't have it so I put in a .30 cent o-ring from Ace hardware! It's no longer leaking, but I'll replace it w/ a OEM when it comes in. I love easy fixes!

Yes. $3.00 for the OEM gasket. I bought a .30 one at Ace as a temporary. 1/32 diameter and 7/8 outside diameter seemed to work just fine, but I'll keep my eye on it. It's not like if it fails all the oil's going to gush out and seize the engine -- it's just messy and smelly.

I have to do this my self. Did you lose any oil when you did it?

not a drop. its up high enough that i think the oil only splashes up there, and only when it's running. so don't change it when it's running!

Mine camshaft position sensor is leaking like a sylph. Do you have to mark the position of the sensor first before removing it? I notice the holes for the bolts are slotted so it can be positioned differently. Does anyone have the nissan/infiniti part number for the o'ring?

Do you mean a #30 o-ring?

Hello, I know this was an older post but did you ever figure out what size O ring was needed for the camshaft position sensor? Thank you
