For at least 3 weeks before this event occurred, my crankshaft pulley was making noise and vibrating.
I was driving my '99 I30 the other day, and when I started it, it was idling rough. I shut it off, started it up again, same thing happened. I got it into gear, and started down the road. Just before my turn, the engine TOTALLY died. Now she won't start at all. Making clicking noises by the starter...battery is also leaking. BRAND NEW BATTERY BTW. I am at a total loss as to what is wrong with her. My brother and dad replaced the crankshaft pulley, the old key was sheared off. Tried to start her up, and NOTHING. The pullies move, but the engine won't even crank over. My dad said, it sounds like there's no compression. I'm NOT a mechanic, that is what my dad said. Car won't turn over at all. Strange sound coming from the motor when trying to turn her over. It sounds like a whining sound and a clicking sound coming from the area where the starter is. I really like my car, and don't want to give up on her. If anyone can give me a direction where I should look, I would be greatly appreciative!
