I am trying to replace the head gaskets on my 91 300zx tt. I have removed the 8 head bolts on each head and some other bolts I think might be in my way. But I cant get the heads off for the life of me!!! they wont budge an inch which makes me think I need to remove either other bolts or something else holding the head in place. by the way I tried to get cute and didn't remove the timing belt the right way I just removed that center pulley which gave me enough flak to take the belt off that way I dont know if this is okay or a problem. Please if someone can find either a diagram or can walk me though what needs to come off it would be greatly appreciated.

Download em.pdf from here http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/300zx/1994/ and the cylinder head removal starts at page 23.

I removing my heads on my tt now, and I can't seem to see these 10mm bolts you're talking about. I removed all the head bolts and the heads still won't budge an inch any pictures would be great (can't really tell too much from that FSM picture).

Sorry for the delay. I'll get out to the garage and snap some pictures for you.

The little bolts that you are missing are right near the head mating surface and not where you pulled all the large main bolts. Theres one in each head. Not sure wtf they are there for they don't seem like they do much but I guess they do haha. THe bolts are on the intake side? of each head one on the front of the motor and one on the back.

Thanks for the help guys! I finally got the heads (along with the manifolds, turbos and pre-cats) off a week or two ago, and even the block and tranny out as well. I found those two little bolts and after that they just needed a lot of persuasion to pop 'em loose haha. Thanks again

DS - Front of head, PS - Rear, They are for holding the head on the block before your head studs go in. Basically temporary placement bolts.

And, dont reuse your head studs lol
