Hello all, new to forum.

I'm a Diesel truck guy who drives a heavily modified 3/4 ton truck. The diesels can be modified something fierce to get more power and better fuel mileage at the sametime (430HP & 22MPG). While I doubt a gasser can do that I want to find any upgrades that I can do to my V to get better mileage.

So the question is what is everyone doing? Looking to stay away from power upgrades, she's a commuter (about 70 miles a day). 2 months old and 4K miles!

On a side note, my little girl made the final color choice (white) and this large man now drives a cute little Versa aptly named "cloudy" by my daughter.

Thanks in advance for any and all assistance!!! Shed

Truely not much to increase mpg. Could try a CAI and exhaust. But the price of those mods probably outweigh any advantage.

Would just through in a K&N filter to save on replacement filters and do anything visual/exterior you want (tint/window visors/etc).

Welcome.

So far... not much mod I can really see. (gas saving wise)

If you have time, try to put the battery at the back, so that it free up some space for the intake.

After that, get a duct to force more cold air into the engine.

the front is jsut so tight that you can barely put your hands into it

With the diesel trucks these days we are doing so much with programming and changing shift points and parameters to get big MPG icreases, anyone see or know of this being done on the versa?

You can create programs for race/stock/economy and switch between them? All this is through a programmer or a custom tune called EFI Live for GM. Just wondering if anyone has played in this area yet. Seems to be where you get the biggest gains.

What about synthetic fluids? Anyone running them yet? Anything from Nissan about what you can/cannot use? I run all Amsoil in the big truck.

No. The import world never got into the power programmers like the domestics.

Such as bullydog or superchips.

I'm not to sure about the versa's electronics but on other nissans you need to reflash the ecu itself and install a daughterboard, all this does is allow you to change the rev limiter, injector size, get rid of top speed limiter, maf translator etc... most people dont tackle this at home. They send the ecu out to JWT... Or get a SAFC and spend countless hours tuning. Even with that there's no real "race/stock/economy" with just the flip of a switch.

Nope... No such thing at all in the Import world. (I mean Asia side) Euro side, specially VW's car do have those stuff, but not as common as here.

Synthetic is always good, but... make sure you run in your car first. Don't use synthetic at the 1 day, if you do that, you engine will still stuck at run-in period around 50000km.

Since you do so much work on cars, I really do recommend you use Dino oil first, and do the leak test on each cylinder, once they are all the same, and drop into a good range, use Synthetic.
